Chun says he will suicide if his wife dies; believes his wife will not marry again if he dies souce: chinatimes translated by: x-WISHFULthinking@asianfanatics.net After filming upcoming movie “Butterfly Lovers”, Chun talks about the plot of the movie when he and Charlene commits suicide. He said that because he really entered into the situation, he painfully thinks back to when his mother passed away. In real life, would you die for love? Chun immediately replies, “Yes! If my wife dies, I will suicide. The person who leaves us experiences the most pain, because he/she is being forced to leave. Facing death, she will be scared, I don’t want her to be scared, so I will die with her to give her courage.” Mother ill, hid this for 10 years Chun says that he will never forget the past when his mother hid her illnesss. He says, “She was ill for 10 years, at first we all didn’t know. I left the country and went abroad to study for 5 years, even when my mum gradually got skinnier and skinnier, I didn’t notice anything wrong. Not until I graduated, and my big sister got married, my mother told us that she had only half a year’s time. These 10 years, she was scared we would notice anything, so when we were at home, she would bring us water to drink every night.” Losing his mother, hurt so much that he does not want to be human Chun was upset and angry at himself for being so stupid for 10 years. When his mother eventually told him that she only had half a year’s time left, he took her to various countries for medical treatment. Once, when in Moscow (capital of Russia), he witnessed the doctor opening a hole in her, and sticking some tubes into her to help treat the cancer, without any anesthetic being used at all. That time, he really felt his mother’s pain, and mentioning this, Chun has a painful expression on his face and holds back tears. Chun says that after his mother passed away, he really “hated life”, and there was one point when he hurt so much that he didn’t want to be human anymore. Single-minded dedication to love Chun decides to “die for love”, and oppositely, will he want his loved one to die with him? He says, “I don’t need this kind of courage, she does not need to die with me, as long as she is happy and I will always be in her heart.” If he dies first, can she marry again? Chun looks startled and shouts, “Impossible, impossible!” He deeply believes that his loved one will never love anyone else and won’t marry to anyone else, from this we can see Chun’s single-minded dedication to love. **from af.net credits to lunaris @ frhfamily |

I feel so sorry for Wu Zun. He went away for five years and came back to Brunei expecting to see he mum forever but then she tells him she only has a little time left :(...he must have felt awful ![]() I would also committ suicide if my husband died. I'd also die for the one I love. If he was dying in hospital I'd give him anything he needed to make him feel better even if it meant I'd die. Really hope Wu Zun finds a girlfriend to live forever with! Everyone needs love...even singers hehe

Poor Chun. I really feel for him. His mum's death was extremely painful for him. I understand. My mum is also no longer here. I hope that if his wife dies and leaves behind children, he would reconsider his suicide pledge. His wife will definitely prefer to leave her healthy husband behind to take care of their children, knowing she can see him again in the next life. Edited by christine, Oct 2 2008, 08:40 AM.

I agree. I don't know exactly what the cultural stance there is, but we all know that here suicide is highly frowned upon. (Especially if they'd be leaving behind orphans.) By this point I know the story, but every time I read it or hear it, I cry =( It must have been so painful... |
