How to answer your question, Joanne....well the beginning was rough because of the little unwritten rules in his family and I managed to alienate his parents and most of his siblings (but we're close now). My parents were initially wary of him because they were afraid he'd take the kids & run off to China if we ever started having marital problems; but then they got to know him and I realized that *I* would be more likely to run off to China than him. But overall he is very Americanized as opposed to other ABCs so we haven't had too many problems.

Wow! Rayne that is an amazing story. Glad everything worked out in the end! My parents didn't used to want me to marry outside of my race, but now I'm in Taiwan they're expecting me to marry a Taiwanese guy! They keep asking me if I have a boyfriend yet lol! XD

Okay, I created this new topic is for discussion of the big Taiwan 2009 trip!! Anyone who's going to Taiwan feel free to post info about where to stay and what to do. Please keep in mind this topic is open to the public so posting private or specific trip planning info is not advised. ;)

I split the topic with the other one that had more specifics about travel plans, etc so feel free to continue discussions! Hope this isn't too confusing. xD

CT - I think most parents would want their children to marry someone other than who they chose. My parents felt no one was good enough but they knew it and let us choose who we wanted.

Joanne - I'm glad they've seen the light :-)

It used to really upset me how much my future in laws hated the idea of their baby marrying someone who wasn't Chinese and I thought many times about breaking up w/ him. But then I realized that he had no desire to marry a Chinese girl, only white so I figured "well, it might as well be me". My brother in laws thanked me profusely for breaking the mold, now anything goes. Even when the in laws thought one bro was gay and dating his Korean best friend they totally didn't care. :-)

Kejli, thanks for the info on changing my signature. What is the best way to save pictures - copy something off a website onto photobucket and then upload it from there?
