Hello, Ladies :-) I was wondering if I might join your group trip to Taiwan for the concert. I'm a newer FLH fan and even newer member of this fan club but I would *love* to go with you. Here's so info about me before you decide - my name is Rayne and I'm a 33 year old wife & mother married to an ABC. I've only been overseas once (China) for a missions trip years ago with a quick stop in HK where we have friends. My husband's brother introduced me to Guang Liang's music and from there (thanks to youtube) I discovered the awesome world of mandopop. Since then I've been watching the idol dramas like crazy and even got my husband watching KO3. My daughter can pretty much pick out Wu Zun from any video on youtube so I guess you can tell who her favorite is :-). So besides being a fan some other things that make me a good reason to bring along is I am also exotic being white and a rather large lady (you wouldn't believe how many times I was asked in China what I weigh :-P) and I am also a nurse who is practically a walking pharmacy. Unfortunately my Mandarin is limited to phrases, most of them learned from my mother in law, my brother in law and the idol dramas. My husband can understand Mandarin pretty well and speaks enough that we didn't get too lost in China. If you'd like to "vet" me you can check me out on facebook (Rayne Lin), myspace (rayneweather) and xanga (rayneweather, although I haven't updated that in about a year). Since getting on FB I've neglected the other two so it's most current. But I do have a whole bunch of pics on myspace that I haven't migrated over yet.

Amazingly my husband has agreed to me going on this trip provided we can save the money (hello, extra money for on call!) and my boss has already given me the time off of work :-) So I'm pretty serious about going. I checked priceline and the cheapest ticket for me since I'm coming from the East Coast is the one that seems popular w/ a layover in SF on the 20th. How much are the concert tickets? I tried googling them but couldn't get a hit so I'm guessing none of the US ticket distributors have them. Ok, I'm rambling a bit, sorry. I'm normally pretty calm & level-headed but right now I've slipped into fangirl mode because I'm so excited about the possibility of seeing them live; I should be fine with some deep breathing :-) Well, I must get back to work; can't go to Taiwan if I get fired. I really look forward to getting to know all of you; I've really enjoyed reading through the forums.

Another thing to think about is health insurance. Some plans don't cover services provided out of country or you have to pay up front & then send in for reimbursement once you get back. I work for an insurance company and I usually recommend getting travel insurance even if you have coverage through your normal insurance. I can't remember the name of the company I used last time but it was only about $30 for 2 or 3 weeks.

Hi Rayne! Nice to meet you. It's always exciting to get new members!

As far as the trip goes, the section we're sitting in at the concerts is sold out. I'm not sure how you'd go about ordering tix for the other sections, as one of our members in Taiwan ordered ours; I don't know whether or not the vendor is shipping them outside Taiwan.

Additionally, the hotel rooms we're looking into are 2 doubles at one hotel, or one 4-bed room at another hotel.

I would certainly encourage you to continue looking into it, however. None of us ever thought we'd make it to Taiwan, yet here we are! ;)

hi rayne :) welcome!

as far as i know the tickets for Fahrenheit's concerts in Taipei are sold out for now and won't have more tickets until 10 days before the concert and then you gotta either go to the place in taipei to buy or there's another site you can buy tickets from..at least i think that is the case if i'm reading correctly :P

i can see if my aunt is able to get you a ticket when the time is closer since she is over there and she got me mine...it is a bit risky tho...

it would be great if you could go! taiwan is an awesome place to visit :) even if you can't make it for the concert it will be a good to just go and see the sights :D

Thanks for the welcome :-). Thanks for the heads up about the tickets and the hotel. After reading through 20 pages of posts with a headache I was having trouble keeping stuff straight :-P My husband reminded me that he has a lot of family living in Taiwan so perhaps I'll use my connections and see if a cousin can pick them up for me. And I don't mind sitting in another section not understanding much of what's being said around me; I went to a Chinese church for a number of years where I was the only white woman and I was referred to as the "foreign woman" :-) One of my good friends runs a travel agency out of Chinatown so I have her working on airfare for me; I was thinking it might be cheaper for me to fly out of NYC since that's what we did when we went to China. I'll look further into the YMCA you posted about; we stayed in one in HK and it was really nice & cheap so I imagine they'd be similar.

Off topic - how do I make a sig?

Hey, hope you guys don't mind, but I moved this to the Members Only board, so we won't have random people browsing around and deciding they're going to rob us while we're there or something (ha!)

Yeah, it sounds like you shouldn't have too much trouble getting there... if you want to go and see the Fahrenheit, feel free!! I'm sure that's what's most important here ^^ By all means, don't feel like you have to stay with us if it'll be easier using other methods. We'll help you with all the Fahrenheit information you need ^^

As for signatures, go to your profile (which you can get to by clicking on your name in the upper lefthand corner just below the FU2F logo), then hover over the in the upper left on that page to see options, under which there should be an edit signature button. ... I hope that made sense ^^;
