Hey, this may be a bit random, but what do you guys know about UC Berkeley? I was looking to go there a while ago and then got kind of discouraged since it's so far away... But I've been looking again lately after my dad said to go ahead and apply anyway (he's so supportive =3 ). So, since I know some of you live near that area, I was wondering what you guys knew about it and if you could give me any "insider" information ( ;) ). Early thanks! <3

sorry I didn't realize it was here the whole time.. oh well, UC Berkeley?!?! i don't know a lot about it, although I do know that there's someone from work that's been trying to get in to that school as well.. so when i see him i will go ahead and ask.. ;) but of course for some (personal) reason, i was thinking: UC Berkeley, that's awesome since its quite a short trip from my city.. if this happens then we can possibly have a"pre-taiwan" meet! ^_^

well, its really hard/confusing to decide, but follow your heart?!? ;) promise i'll do some MIT-ing for you..

uc berkeley is fairly close to my house...and i know a ton of people who have gone :) everyone that has gone has really liked it. they pretty much have any major that you desire, it is definitely a more liberal school too if you're into protesting and stuff like that :P sports wise they are pretty good too i guess :) the only thing is that it is a bit dangerous in berkeley because outside of the berkeley campus there are a lot of homeless people and stuff so just be careful at night..never walk alone :P overall i'm sure you'll like berkeley if you decide to go there :)

Sweet ^^ I do love the liberal atmosphere and can see myself getting involved in protests (^^;)
I didn't know that about Berkeley itself, though, so thanks! It seems like the people that go there really do love it..

Aww, thanks Ricca!! Yeah, I saw that you lived really close-by and my first thought was, "Awesome, I'll know someone and she's awesome and it'll be awesome to meet her!" xD I'm just trying to gather some insider information since you really can't trust their site to tell you anything ;) And I'm not familiar with that area at all! Never been further west than Wyoming... I told my brother that I should go there just so I could taunt him about the weather ^^ (He's in Chicago.)

aww.. Sunny California! no more waist deep snow if that's the case.. ;) i think its a great school, but like what Christine mentioned it is quite liberal, i think that's where they had those protesters that's been on the trees in the school parking lot.. they're trying to stop the school from cutting those trees and some really stayed for a while.. correct me if i'm wrong though.. ^_^ i just asked somebody from the bank and he said its a really good school.. and particular field of study?!?

Psychology and East Asian Studies. I'd like to double major ^^
I also saw that they have East Asian Linguistics and Culture Studies...? Or something like that? That was really really interesting...
And yes, Berkeley does have a reputation for being very liberal and a protest school... I was reading some testimonials online from students and they were saying that that reputation isn't entirely true for the modern campus; it was really active during Vietnam and all that, and still is to come extent, but it isn't quite as wild and crazy as before and there are a lot of conservatives there now as well.

something to depend on is definitely the good weather :D hehe that is one of my favorite things about california :) wow cool psychology and eastern studies will be good at berkeley :D and no worries about not being familiar with the area...everything is fairly close together and there's as bart station (train) really close to campus and berkeley is super close to san francisco :)

My dad went there for a couple of semesters before he had to come back to Cleveland (he ran out of money and was too lazy to get any scholarships), and by the way he's urging me to apply there, it seems like he thinks I'd really like it. So yeah! I'm definitely going to apply and see what I get ^^ I'll inch closer and closer to Asia! ;)
