OKAY! So this is the presentation I'm going to give on our school's announcements tomorrow as a part of our mock-election which a friend and I are helping to run. I just needed to present Obama's energy plan... So honestly tell me what you think and give suggestions on what to change! As much as it's great to hear, just saying that it was wonderful doesn't really help much =/ I really want to outshine whoever's taking McCain's side! xP

"In a quote from Barack Obama in The Audacity of Hope, he states, "It is hard to overstate the degree to which our addiction to oil undermines our future." If this energy crisis is not addressed immediately and effectively, our demand for oil will continue to grow until there is no more opportunity for change. Therefore, the energy plan that Barack Obama has proposed will address short-term concerns as well as the long-term solution we need. The immediate solution includes, in a simple sense, using excess oil company profits to give average Americans $1,000 in emergency tax breaks; preventing loopholes in the energy market from allowing the heads-of-companies from becoming even richer; and minimally and responsibly swapping some of the light oil we currently get for heavy crude oil to bring down prices. Within the next ten years, Obama also plans to eliminate the need for imports from the Middle East and Venezuela by getting at least one million Plug-In Hybrid cars made in the US on the roads by 2015, and giving financial incentives to buy more fuel-efficient vehicles, among some additional, more technical solutions. During the process of creating these more efficient methods, his plan will also create millions of jobs in the quest for 25% independence by the year 2025. It also includes the goal of reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions by 80% in the next forty years, making the United States a global leader and respected role-model on climate change. He does support drilling offshore as being among a package of temporary and immediate help, but not by any means as a long-term solution or as the focal point of his forward-seeking plan. His proposition acknowledges the fact that the solution to this dire issue is much more elusive than simply drilling now and continuing to ignore the issue until it is too late. Instead he has formulated a plan which includes many separate options which work together to help end our energy crisis while protecting the environment and American interests simultaneously."

... I really want to add Colbert's analogy with the card game! ... But I don't really know how to add it so it won't be really long/strange ^^;
