Coco's Sprites; Sprite Work from the In-Training Spriter

As an In-Training Sprite Artist, I know that setting your parameters early on is important.

Well, I have found my current Parameters and I am trying to push at the limits to see how far I can go.

The pieces I am showing you will be from my earlier works, all the way through to my later works/as time goes along.

I have seperated this topic into my two current forays in Sprite Artistry; Character Sprites & Building Sprites.

Characters

Although I can not date this Character Base, It is my very first Spriting Piece. It is a Chibi Base of which I made myself, using references where I found I needed it. I have not named it as yet, and to be honest, I do not have a clue what to name it.

This is my first official character sprite. First OFFICIAL due to not cheating in regards to shading etc. It isn't fantastic, I'm not very good at hair. But I do not think it is a bad attempt.

Building

This is my very first piece of Building Sprite Work. I originally meant this to be a Log Gate for a Fort or Small Village, however, it does also look like it could be a section of Log Fencing/Walling. This is meant to be the external side; I am currently working on the Internal Side.

Sprite in Progress

Next Sprite will be another Building Sprite. This will show the Internal side of the Log Gates.

SK really knows how to break the spirit of a man doesn't he :) . How the heck does it look like the birds eye view of a dumpster anyway SK?

I don't think it looks too much like a dumpster lid, more so it looks close enough, probably because of the colors you chose to make it with.

What is it anyways? I know it's part of a building sprite, but just what is it exactly? A wooden wall?

It is meant to be a closed gate for a wooden fort or small village. Tell you what, rather than start on the internal side of the gate, I'll use my external side as a reference, and add some log walls, maybe then it will appear more suitable for display. Then again, thinking about it, it could be used as a log wall for fortifications.
