Well, this, along with many of the off-color things that Vince and I say around the table come from us laughing at anime and Dynasty Warriors, with such gems as 'AFTERIMAGES WHICH HAVE MAAAASS!" (a combination of a bizarre line in Gundam F91 and several characters able to attack with afterimages) "ARGHARGH, POISONED BEAN BUNS [Flawless Sidereal Victory]" Liu Bei's final scene (3:30), "Note to self: Kill my Wood Dragon daughter before she team-kills me for the enemy general's junk." (Several of Sun Shang Xiang's cuscenes (6:30 in particular)) "Kung Fu Jesus on a motorcycle!" (Toki's final mission in Ken's Rage) and several others. We've commented several times that the entire DW series is an accurate description of how the Realm will consume itself while several Solars laugh. However, to get back to the question, THAT particular line was due to a running gag that karmically due to Solar PCs, there would be a BoD postition whose entire job was to protect Gem from the actions of Solars. Needless to say, the poor Sidereal who has this job is overworked, underrested and under-paid for the sheer amount of crap that they'd have to go through. I think ruling a domain would be fine, if Shark's death cult is tolerated. And no, Kesler, I'm fine with Shark. I'd like to run at least one of each Exalt type, and the fact that my Alchemical run got shafted will require me to revisist them, is all. I'd also like to see your Planetar notes, Dietaku. And that explains a bit, too, with the thing about the Gem Sidereal. Edited by Kayen, Nov 17 2011, 01:28 AM.

Of course I want a dominion. I can't lead it though, or else I'll get audited. Severely. Like, a notch below "Trying to kill the Incarnae or their direct subordinates" severely. I can act as a trusted adviser though. With Sid Bureaucracy charms as they are, that would probably be the best place for me to be, anyway. For the location, might I suggest Melevhil? It's early Shogunate-era ruins at the end of a large trade road and would be the closest major port to the Hundred Kingdoms, so we'd make mad bank on trade. Plus, it's got at least 1, if not two operable manses, and at least six damaged warstriders in it. Edited by Vince, Nov 17 2011, 12:48 PM.

I'd like to see them. I'll throw up the ideas that I've had for them once I get them organized.
That's up to you all. A better course of action might be to make a collective cult to the Circle. That will make a more resilient system and create less conflict between the members of your various cults.
Well, duh. Sidereals are "Cunning Viziers the Kung-fu-ening". I think Zebran would probably make the best official leader, especially if the state is to have religious overtones.
I'm fine with Melevhil, but it depends on the rest of the circle. The benefits, are as you say, a good trade position and a wealth of magical resources. A downside to this is the lack of population, but that also gives you the ability to build a society from the ground up. Plus, You'd have to worry about Great Forks or Nexus trying to turn you into a satellite state. Some of the things you would have to do to get Melevhil are: 1) Convince Breathless Sparrow to help you. She might be pissed at you setting up a city right next door without talking to her first. Plus, her assistance would give you a base of operations and a reasonably sized population to begin re-founding the city. 2) Kill, run out (Worst long term), or take over (Best long term) squatter communities. 3) Kill or recruit Scavenger Lords. 4) Gain control of other nearby townships 5) Rebuild infrastructure This would probably take the mobilization of a significant military force, and hiring a ton of skilled labor. In short, it'll cost you. Edited by Kesler, Nov 17 2011, 05:53 PM.

Not necessarily. The exact wording is "Sidereals are forbidden to form or maintain cults to themselves and therefore cannot obtain Ambrosia naturally in Heaven" on p 53 of MoEP: Sidereals. You therefore have two potential defenses. One, if you are not involved in the cult's formation or maintenance, you're obeying the letter of the law. Second, if you form a cult to the Circle as a whole, you're good. The best way to get around it this way would be to form a collective cult to Shark, Vasilis and Zebran and then have the cult shoehorn you in because you are their peer and helped them with the same things that they are worshiped for. You may still get audited, but you'd probably be able to weasel your way out of it be arguing semantics. |

Alrighty, here they are: ALL my Planetar notes. Manual of Exalted Power: Planetars Chapter 1: The Comet of Chaos The Primordial War is a mysterious time, lost to Myth to all but a select handful of beings. The Yozis remember it bitterly as the time when all they had ever known and created turned against them in a bitter war which left them little more than mere aspects of what they had been before, shuddering at what their dead siblings now were. The Exalts pay it little mind with the exception of Chejop Kojek(SP?), the sole living survivor of the War, and the Green Sun Princes, who must be made aware of the war so that the importance of the Reclamation is made plain to them. The Incarnae on the other hand, recall it fondly as the time when they took what rightly belonged to them. However, not all in this period is how it was before, with many Incarnae lost to the peerless might of the Primordials and those gods who remained loyal to them. Of these included Neptune and Pluto, the Maidens of Transience and Hours respectively, whose purviews were absorbed by their sisters into the Maidens who are alive today. However, there were others, principally one whose existence was a bane to many, but also was one of the most ardent forces of support for the rebellion of the Gods and Exalts. This was Fortuna the Comet. The Comet’s Birth When Creation was being constructed, a mighty war arose between the souls of the Primordial who would become Isodoros, the Black Boar Who Casts Down the Stars and the Pyres Within Which Thoughts are Burned, the Primordial who would later become She Who Lives in Her Name. Fought over whether or not the creatures which lived in the bastion of fixed shape which would empower the Primordials ought to be granted free will or be mere puppets of their Titan masters. The Black Boar demanded their full autonomy, seeking chaos and internal evolution in Creation, whereas the Pyre sought a total lack of free will, which would bring about her view of a totally lawful, orderly universe in which all would have their place and function. This war was halted by Malfeas who mediated in favor of a solution offered by the Dragon’s Shadow, who sought to keep their creations free of puppetry, not in favor of a sense of paternalism, but because the Dragon was a creature of laziness and sought to entertain himself with these new playthings. However, concessions were made. The Pyre was allowed to create the Celestial Bureaucracy, which would govern all of Creation. Headed by the Incarnae and staffed by all the Gods, this would allow some semblance of order to be allowed in Creation. While each God would be given free will, with the exception of the Great Geas implanted into the Incarnae, each would have their own purpose built into the Bureaucracy, and in so doing, would work for the betterment of the whole. As for Isodoros, his concession was just as mighty, as he was given permission to create a god which would be allowed to represent his desired force of chaos in order to present a force of balance within Creation. Working together with Szoreny, he crafted a mighty mirror of adamant, pointing it at the Loom of Fate. He then commanded the mirror to create a mockery of this machine of perfect order, and reveal to him his desired being of chaos and power. With that, the mirror flashed and out of it arose Fortuna, the Comet. Isodoros, overjoyed for the success of his experiments, granted her the mirror of her birth as part of her panoply and told her this single order, “Do as you will.” She then set out to wreak havoc and lay low the righteous and raise up the fool, all while using the strength she mirrored from her father. Mirror? What of the Ebon Dragon? While it is true that the Ebon Dragon in his current state possesses similar aspects to Fortuna, his twisted sense of self can only corrupt, presenting copies of what he sees as wicked and depraved. Fortuna on the other hand, is not a mirror of evil, but one of randomness and chance. She perfectly mirrors those she sees, but instead adds the unexpected or impossible, such as moustaches to beautiful women or bug eyes to beloved kittens. Her chaos is not malevolent, but a necessary aspect of Creation, lest stagnation and conformity devour all of existence. The Flashing Mirror of Fortune The immense artifact which brought about the creation of Fortuna herself. While it both was a tangible artifact along with being a panoply charm for Fortuna, it exists still, despite the Bronze Faction’s best efforts to remove all traces of any Exalts apart from themselves and their Dragonblood pawns. Its current whereabouts are unknown, but it is still known to exist as the God of Earth-Shattering Events is said to have been born of a shard of its adamant face. Its exact powers have been lost to time, but knowing the garbled legends of Fortuna passed down since the Primordial War, it would allow an attuned user to ignore fate, reshape Creation around them or even ignore the fundamental laws of life and death. Raised to the status of Celestial Incarnae by Isodoros’ command, Fortuna became a constant nagging thorn in the side of the Maidens, who had been tasked with the orderly passage of Fate. Now, with a sanctioned goddess whose job was to undo their work, it became their hobby to engage in bouts of pranks to undermine the other, with the Maiden’s martial arts being undone by the Comet Goddess’ immense strength and her mighty spells passed onto her by Isodoros and vice versa. However, this was all forgotten when Autochthon laid out his plans for warfare. While the Gods were mighty, they themselves could not fight the Primordials thanks to the Great Geas, their chosen champions could. Thus, Fortuna gained her own champions, who like herself, were strong of mind as well as body. The Planetars, so named for they were roving engines of wizardly might, made short work of many demons thanks to their sorcery. Indeed, it is hinted that they were the first humans to master the sorcerous arts, teaching even the peerless Solars their trade by dint of easing the pain of the listless sorceress Bridget. However, this invincibility was not to last. The Diamond Mates Just as the Solars and Lunars were bound mystically one shard to another, so too were the Planetars and the Sidereals bound as such. While, this did little to assist in the friction between the two Incarnae, Autochthon did so to prevent one from outright slaughtering the other, citing the need of both Exalt types to prosecute the war on the Primordials. on the other hand, it is hinted in several ancient passages that it is because of this bond that the Maidens sought to ignore the cries for assistance that the Planetars gave off in their final acts of arrogant self-destruction, seeing their Chosen as needing no such baggage in their pursuit of correctly aligning Fate. However, should the Maidens will it, these passages say, Fortuna could easily reborn. However, it would be easier to make Malfeas calm than to browbeat the Maidens into ressurecting their old nemesis. The Comet’s Fall. In the Third Century of the War, Isodoros and Szoreney both took the field against the combined forces of several Solars and the mightiest of all Planetars, the Convergence Caste Seven Star Sign. The battle went on like all others, until Isodoros unleashed his newest creation, the Behemoth Sweet Reeds of Nostalgia. This behemoth, a ingenious weapon disguised as a small girl, it would wreak havoc by appearing as the object of greatest fondness by the viewer, and then rip them to shreds while they were enraptured by their own sense of love. While such tricks were beneath the notice of Seven Star Sign, the Solar allies he had alongside him became beguiled by the monster, and began to defend it, even as it devoured the Dragonbloods under their command. Thus, was Seven Star Sign undone, for while he was mighty in both body and mind, even he could not compete with the bewitched Solar heroes he had to battle. However, with his last words, he called out to his patron, who obliged him by entering the fray herself. She engaged Sweet Reeds of Nostalgia, who retorted by appearing as any number of things, to which Fortuna shaped herself naturally into bizarre reflections of what was being presented. Because of this Sweet Reeds of Nostalgia rent its own face in frustration and stormed off the field, leaving Fortuna and her creators. It was at this moment that a curious quirk of her station presented itself. While Isodoros loved Fortuna not only for herself, but also the pain and frustration her work caused the Pyre, Her rebellion was too much, and he immediately set himself to kill her in one blow. However, as he tried to do so, he found he could not. Fortuna explained that when Isodoros had her pledge the Great Geas, she in her station as trickster mirror, had reflected the perfect oath back at Isodoros, and so were they trapped in an impasse which Szoreney ended. The Silver Forest had no interest in Fortuna apart from seeking to aid Isodoros however possible, and saw her trickery as one step too far, slashing her into ribbons then and there. Thus, did were the Planetars undone, for while the legends of madness for Exalts whose patron had been slain are not entirely correct, they had a figment of truth. Fortuna possessed immense arrogance, and this confidence then suffused her chosen, which stormed the field and challenged the Primordials no matter the place or their preparation. Naturally, they were killed to a man. Once the war was over, their exaltations were forgotten, scattered to the winds or to the Wyld, and the Maidens, glad to have their work uninhibited, never spoke of her again. Her mirror, the Flashing Mirror of Fortune shattered, giving rise to several gods in limited aspect to Fortuna, and thus, was the Sparkling Trickster’s influence on Creation ended… Or is it? Several caches of unknown Exaltation shards have been found starting in the late Shogunate Era well into the Realm Period by Sidereal savants. Their presence on Creation intrigued and puzzled them all in the highest. Why were these priceless items lying static in Creation when they should be empowering mortals with feats of greatness? It was not until the creation of the Green Sun Princes that their real origin came to be known, as Isodoros, seeking a means to avenge himself on Creation with his own strength, demanded that several of the Reclamation’s own sorcerers and intelligentsia, especially a certain self-stylized messiah named Sable Thesis Dream, seek out these rare treasures. While their Creation bases were destroyed and their cults scattered, Sable Thesis Dream and her associates managed to recover three such shards, which Isodoros implanted with his own power, resetting them and thus, removing the flaw of arrogance implanted by Fortuna’s death. All Fingers, No Head The Planetars without their patron is an interesting paradox which your Storyteller must make on their own. Can Isodoros, the one Yozi which would know enough of their nature and underlying power, be able to replace Fortuna as their patron deity? Or will these new Planetars simply became new castes of Green Sun Princes? If not, will Fortuna be able to be resurrected? These are questions that will not only provide many adventures worth of material, but also reveal a bit about your Circle’s form of Creation itself. Character Creation Step 1 Choose Motivation and concept. Note Anima power. Step 2 Prioritize between Caste Attribute (8),the character’s three Favored Attributes (6), and remaining Attributes (4). Step 3 Distribute 27 ability dots. No ability can be higher than 3 without spending BP. Step 4 Choose Backgrounds(10) (No higher than 3, other than Cult, without spending BP), Charms (12, 5 must be from Caste/Favored Attributes, also no more than 3 Celestial or Adamant level Sorcery), and Virtues (5) which cannot be raised to more than 3 without spending BP. Step 5 Record Essence Rating (2), Willpower, (Sum of two highest virtues) and Essence Pools, Personal ( (Essence*2)+Willpower) , Peripheral ((Essence*6)+(Sum of all Virtues)) and spend bonus points (18) on any aspect of your character as needed.
