Pathos Reborn
The man finished rolling and appeared a tad bit confused, Shade noticed. However, that didn't stop him from running away, towards the village of all places. "Looking for a place to hide?" Shade thought to himself as he began to dash towards the man, with his dagger in hand. He dissipated the shadow, which returned to its ring. Shade traveled on a path that would meet up with that of his opponent's before he could get too far. Shade also seemed to be the faster of the two, but that may have just been his perception.

The stab was quick and hopefully, lethal. Shade had jabbed the knife towards the man's throat from behind, in a fraction of a second. If it worked, he'd plunge the knife into the man's flesh a few more times in order to finish the foolhardy challenger before tossing him into the flames, a replacement for a burial for unworthy challengers.

As Knifis was already at his destination, and he was well aware of Shade following him, he expect such an attack. He was not, however, prepared for a clean dodge. He ducked, hoping to hear the blade slice through the air above him, yet felt the hair on his head be removed, as well as a strip of skin. The wound was hardly deep enough to bleed, but the open cut plus the sulfur and smoke in the air proved to be a painful experience.

Without delay, and hissing from the stinging agony, Knifis grabbed a flaming plank of wood from the distorted house they were at. With enough force to knock a man flat on the ground, he swung the heated weapon as he spun around, aiming to crack open Shade's skull. The power behind the swing, if it connected, would be enough to shatter the plank of wood.

If the meeting of wood and bone proved successful, Knifis still had his handgun drawn and enough bullets to swiss cheese a collapsed Shade. His intent was obvious.

Shade hadn't realized that the two fighters had already reached the village until he felt the heat all around him. As the dagger scraped off some of the target's skin, the man grabbed an unburnt portion of wood from a nearby house and wheeled around, attempting to strike him down by spinning.

However, fate would have it that the man's process took far longer than Shade simply retracting his arm. Thus, Shade was able to strafe around his opponent quickly with a small hop forward and slightly to his right (upon rotating left to face the man's side), and ducked, in order to get below the flaming wood, and made a slashing attempt at the man's left leg, which proved to be essentially unguarded while he was spinning.

Upon noticing that his attack was dodged, Knifis was completely aware of a counterattack. He also was in no mood to lose more of his precious flesh. So, as a compromise, Knifis jumped, still spinning, into the air. Due to the momentum, he drifted a bit to his left as the plank collided with the wall of the house.

As previously predicted, the wood in his hands shattered, send splinters flying in every direction. Yet there was a more pressing problem at hand. The collison with the wall of the house brought the flaming roof down on both the warriors; Knifis busy with his stinging scalp as he attempted a frantic getaway, and Shade with his blade slicing through nothing but air.
