Revision 3 Rules to Creating RP Characters: 1. We are not obligated to be kind to your character. If your character exhibits many signs of unoriginality or Mary sue-ism, you'll likely get railed for it by the staff. No hard feelings ![]() 2. As the above implies, we are open to creativity. This is a very relaxed RP system. As long as it does not interfere with the other rules, do whatever you wish with your character. Your posts do not have to be immensely detailed, that is optional. As long as you get your point across well enough in your post, it's fine. 3. There is no limit to the amount of skills a character can have, but do keep in mind the phrase of "Quality > Quantity" is there for a reason. 4. We do allow special moves, that are available once a match. The idea of a special move, in my personal opinion is to have an ability that is unique to all others, and that doesn't follow the normal rules of a normal ability. Specials are the only legal force hits. But as said above in rule 3, you can have as many as you want but PLEASE keep in mind quality > quantity. And you can still only use one in a match 5. No detail picking. The idea of an RP is to have fun, not to try some sort of really small crack in dodging around what your opponent said and take it literally, word for word. This takes all the fun out of RPing. 6. Your characters are not allowed to be immortal\immune to damage or essentially any sort of bullshit that makes your character unable to be harmed. Also, regardless of speed I can assure you someone will be able to hit them at some point. No character can just go *Dodge* to every action. What fun is an RP when the outcome is always the same? 7. Judges are staff and those picked by staff. Only they can judge battles and run arenas. This is to make sure biased decisions aren't made. Don't pester us to be part of this group. We will make a topic when we're looking for Judges. 8. There is no EXP. There are no Ratings. There is only Final Destination....and the empty void.... *Shot*. All joking aside, There will simply be a topic showing your win\loss rates and possibly other little misc details, but that's solely on the decision of the staff. 9. Single Matches are customizable. Lists of decisions one can make when setting up a match will be added in Section 2: Single Match Customization. 10. Anyone can start a Regular RP and it can be anything, from the conventional save world from evil wizard to the unconventional like giant fighting robots with faces beating each other up and throwing galaxies at each other. 11. Regular RP Leaders are not obligated to accept you into their RP. Do not whine to us about this. 12. Please...use your head with these rules. If you think something is bending the rules, it probably is. If you're going to try bending the rules, we'll just patch it in anyway. So please, don't waste our time. If you truly are confused as to if something is against the rules or not, Contact a judge or an administrator 13. Staff has final say in all decisions of the RP System. If we denied your suggestions to change it, that's final. Don't complain about it when we do. The idea is to keep this as simplistic and fun as possible. If we deem your suggestion to be too frivolous, please don't be insulted. If you carry out a large amount of annoying and whiny complaints, you'll be blacklisted from the RP System. Simple as that. 14. You cannot Referee a match if you are not a Judge. Rule 7 says this also but this is there for the purpose of being more explicit. 15. Nobody cares if you're a hardcore RPer and finds our system to be n00bish. Go somewhere else then. 16. Characters MUST be approved by staff before using them in any form of RP in the system. This is to cut rule breaking characters off at the pass. 17. Do you want to read about someone's sexual experience in an RP or story? No? Didn't think so. That means don't post this kind of crap, because it won't be tolerated at all. Ever. The reason this rule is being added (as if it's not blatantly obvious enough) is because the moment we start non-combat oriented RPs is the moment people get the ideas into their heads that they can "bend" the rules a little bit. Not true. Simple as that. We don't want to hear or see about it. Oh and if you answered "yes" to the question above, politely go jump off. Thanks. Edited by Root, Jul 24 2008, 12:57 AM.

===Section 2: Single Match Customization=== In Single Matches, you are able to customize the fight with a myriad of options, which can effect manuverance and ability to take hits. You cannot set things that conflict with each other. (example: Setting the Steel and Light Body setups are impossible as they conflict with each other.) NOTE: You MUST at MINIMUM set the Damage Calculator and time\turn limit for the match, or the topic will be deleted. If nothing else is specified it is assumed to be the default with all restricted moves (Superforms, Fusions etc) turned OFF and on the Basic Stage. If you pick a mode other than Sparring, do not start until you've gotten a Judge to look at the match, otherwise this will lead to confusion. ==Match Damage Calculator HP: Set the HP to any value from 50-1000. Do you want a short fight or a long-fight? You decide. Damage: Damage number goes up as you take hits. Winner has least amount of Damage at the end Sparring: There is no HP or Damage and a Judge is not required for it. However, it will not be added to your wins\losses record. Another Stipulation is that Turns are limited to a max of 25 turns and Time limit to a maximum of two hours =Gravity --Low: Gravity is low, meaning you can jump higher and longer. This makes for more interesting matches where almost anyone can get decent air-time --Default: Self-Explanitory --High: Gravity is high, meaning jumps are hard to make unless you have a specialist character and jumps don't last long. This usually makes avoiding attacks trickier =Body Setup --Default: The Player's bodies are normal. --Steel: The player's bodies are made of steel, meaning attacks deal significantly less damage and do less throwback damage. --Light: Character's Bodies are very light, meaning attacks do more throwback than usual. --Fragile: Character's Bodies are fragile, meaning attacks do more damage. --Fire: Character Bodies are encased in flame, making them immune to fire type attacks and fire type terrain. --Ice: Character Bodies are encased in ice, making them immune to ice type attacks and ice type terrain --Lightning Rod: Character Bodies attract lightning based attacks to them. =Character Size --Normal: Characters are their normal size --Fixed: All characters are scaled to the same size. --Small: Characters are shrunken to a fraction of their size. --Large: Characters are made significantly larger. =Set Statuses --Normal: Characters do not start with a status effect --Poison: Characters start poisoned and take gradual damage. =Misc --Real Time Limit: Set matches anywhere from 20 Minutes to three hours. (two hours in Sparring) --Turn Limit. Set Matches from 5-50 Turns. (5-25 in Sparring) --Special Damage: Can be fixed or decided by the Judge based on the attack and how it works. --Fusions: On or Off. --Superforms: On or Off. --Body Switching: On or Off. --Teams: Decide Teams (Obviously only applies to matches with more than two people) Do you want a free for all, or do you want a challenge by fighting multiple people? =Stages: Decide which stage you fight on. a List will be in another post. More options can be suggested, although they may not be accepted. Edited by Sean, Jul 18 2008, 08:33 PM.

===Section 3: Restrictions=== There will be some Restrictions involved on what you can do, but for the most part, they are light. ---Fusions--- Fusions must be toggled ON for use in Matches or Regular RPs ---Superforms--- Superforms must be toggled ON for use in Matches or Regular RPs ---Body Switching--- Body Switching must be toggled ON for use in Matches or Regular RPs ---Intangibility--- Intangibility is BANNED in all forms of the RP System, due to sheer unfairness on the side that has said power, the only exception is that Bosses in Regular RPs are permitted to have that kind of power. ---Mind Control--- Mind Control is BANNED in all forms of the RP System, due to sheer unfairness on the side that has said power, the only exception is that Bosses in Regular RPs are permitted to have that kind of power. ---Healing--- Healing is restrictive by a cooldown time or casting time based on the amount healing, 1 for each 10 HP healed. Example: a 20 HP heal can have a 2 turn Cooldown or a 2 turn casting time, or a 1 turn cooldown and a 1 turn casting time. ---Health Drain--- Health Drain follows a similar restriction to Healing but it's 2 turns of cooldown per 10 HP healed and also carries the secondary restriction of the attack only allowing recovery equal to half the damage dealt or lower. (Example: Character uses Health Drain. It deals 40 damage, so the attacker recovers 20 HP. This means it must have a 4 turn Cooldown.) There is no "Casting time" for this kind of attack. ---Regeneration-- Regeneration in an unlimited form is BANNED from the RP System due to unfairness. However, you can have a heal that does recovery over time, but a set time. Use your best judgement in deciding in what's fair. The staff will tell you if something needs to be fixed. ===Section 4: RP Type Specification=== Battle RPs: These are matches made between any members and settings are discussed between them. MUST BE MONITORED BY JUDGES UNLESS SPARRING MODE IS ENABLED. SEE SECTION 2. Regular RPs: These are RPs led by a specific person(s) that have a story, one that has a beginning an end. Non-Battle RPs: These are RPs where battle is not permitted. These are made for character interaction and development. ===Section 5: Staff and how to Apply for RP Staff=== Currently, the only staff for the RP System are the Board Staff (I.E: Sean, Jeff, Bryan\Root, Gabby\Rem) How to Apply: To Apply to make your own Arena RP, you must get approval by an Admin and must have displayed a good grasp of the RP system. To Apply to someone else's Arena RP, you must ask the owner of said Arena for permission If you wish to apply for leader of a person's Regular RP, you must ask the owner for Permission. ===Section 6: Credits=== The entire list of guidelines to the RP system were written by Sean, with suggestions and revisions provided by Bryan, Jeff, and Rem. This guide is only allowed on Four Against Nature now and forever, so do not bother asking if you can use it on your forum's RP Section. If you have any questions or suggestions to the RP system, you can PM or Email the staff or post them in the suggestions box. Edited by Sean, Aug 8 2009, 01:46 PM.

Something I just want to add to make it 100% clear. If you try to break any of these rules and then argue how you lost in some sort of match, it is entirely your fault. To be plain and simple we do not want to hear any whining. I know, these sounds like a lot of serious business, but past experience makes me want to put this disclaimer in. |

Does being the only sane one make me the insane one, in a sort of way? Though my eyes could see, I was still a blind man; Though my mind could think, I still was a madman... "Yes there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run...there's still time to change the road you're on" | |
