Rock Band was a great game on the 360 and PS3. Nice collection of songs, character customization, rather lengthy multiplayer tour mode... And you could use the guitar from GH3.

Half a year later, it moves to the Wii. This excited me, as the Wii is the only console I own. They could have spent this time making it BETTER, but no. They spend those six months taking things OUT.

No more character customization.
No more multiplayer tour mode.
No more downloadable songs.
No more online multiplayer.
And it isn't compatible with the cooresponding GH3 guitar, either.

WHY?!?

Wow. That sounds like it sucks. I am definitely not buying it then.

I think the multiplayer removal might have been because of Nintendo. Nintendo is pretty strict as to what has online multilayer and what doesn't, and I assume that they didn't let Rock Band have it.

I absolutely would not see any way for this to be the developer's fault. Why would they spend time taking things away from their game?

Too late. I got it. :P
Hopefully RB2 will fix everything... And I really hope you can just buy the game separately. -_-

A Short Outline About Why I hate Guitar Hero/Rock Band by Cog-Sean
Warning Parental Advisory: Explicit Content

First off let me start by telling you a little about my self incase you don’t know already were my opinion is coming from. I am an aspiring musician and guitarist; since I was 16 I have dedicated my life to becoming the best musician and guitar player I can be. I am also going to college right now, and working towards a bachelors degree in music with focus in guitar performance. I have been playing the guitar for close to 5 years now, I practice usually some were between 3-8 hours a day during the majority of the week, I also take private guitar lessons with my guitar teacher, Matthew Mills, who is a Neo-classical metal/rock guitar virtuoso seen here in example 1:

Example 1 (NOTE: this is not one of Matthew's songs it is just him showing off his playing ability)

NOTE: I apologize for those who are offended by what I am about to say, unless you fall into one of the categories of people I talk about then, I actually hope you are offended…

Outline of reasons I hate Guitar Hero/Rock Band:

1.Guitar Hero makes some of the easiest songs to play in real life harder than they actually are, and the hardest songs on guitar hero are not hard enough.
a.The problem with this is that it undermines great guitar players because when people who have no idea about music or how to play an instrument play these songs, which seem more complex then they actually are, It makes them think that bands like Nirvana, Weezer, The Strokes, and The Killers actually have good guitar players, which is a lie (all of the bands listed have shitty guitar players, that can’t play there way out of a fucking box)
b.Songs like Through the Fire and Flames, I guarantee you are 100% harder to play in real life then they are on guitar hero.
i.I am not bullshitting you here! I cannot tell you how many times people have tried to convince me that playing through the fire and flames with no mistakes on guitar hero expert is actually harder than playing the song in real life because, “you have to tap the buttons with two hands”, and I have been told this by people around the ages of 20 – 30.

NOTE: if you are able to actually play Through the Fire and Flames on expert and get it 95% or more right, like this child in example 2, then you should fucking kill yourself…

Example 2

2.Guitar Hero DOES NOT HELP YOU AT PLAYING THE REAL INSTRUMENT!
a.I have actually been asked to teach private guitar lessons to a few people, I will not mention any names, but I have had students try and explain to me how they didn’t have time to practice the guitar, but it was ok because they spent several hours playing guitar hero or how guitar hero has helped them feel like they can play better on the real guitar, when in fact once I hear them actually play a real guitar, they still sound just as shitty as they did when they started. Just a suggestion if you want to learn to play the real guitar you need to practice on the real instrument, Don’t spend all your time playing guitar hero and think that you are getting better without having to play the real thing. (If you do think you can learn to play the real guitar by playing guitar hero/rock band, I suggest you kill yourself, because this kind of thinking is only successful in producing douche bags like this guy in examples 3, 4, and 5.)

Example 3
Example 4
Example 5

NOTE: If you feel any sympathy for the person in Examples 3-5 instead of a burning desire to punch him in the face and make him bleed, there is something wrong with you…

3.Playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band is nothing at all like the real thing.
a.Please for the love of God do not ask a serious musician how good they are at guitar hero/ Rock band.
b.Being great at guitar hero will not make you a great guitar player, and being a great guitar player will not make you great at guitar hero.

4.As a musician/guitar player I have always viewed guitar hero/rock band as games for posers (and I don't like posers) who wish they could actually play an instrument, be in a band, perform live, or be some kind of rock star but, are lazy, don’t actually have any real drive, and are unwilling to put forth any of the years of effort it takes to actually become a great musician.

5.The game is a fucking boring color matching game, no better then Simon ,actually I think I prefer Simon , because at least Simon won’t give people convoluted delusions of grandeur. Guitar Hero/ Rock Band are just matching the right color button with the right timing, so that a fake crowd can cheer you for playing a fake instrument, to a pre-recorded song, so that it can reward you with an undeserved self-sense of gratification. Other than that the only other reason for playing the game is so you can show off to people just how much spare time you have on your hands and how fucking great you are at pushing buttons in a timed sequence like some kind of lab monkey.

-Now don’t get me wrong, I do understand that the Guitar Hero/Rock Band games have actually done some good here and there. It is thanks to guitar Hero that DragonForce’s Inhuman Rampage Album has hit gold status selling over 500,000 copies thanks to the song Through the Fire and Flames being on guitar Hero, and in very rare occasions the games have inspired young people to actually pick up the real instrument. Unfortunately, from my perspective I would have to say that the bad out ways the good.

I apologize if I have offended anyone, but this is my Personal Opinion of the game, and I do not expect everyone to agree with me! Just please for the love of God take what I have said into consideration next time you think about picking up that fake little plastic lie of a guitar…

Now, in closing I leave you with this PSA from Virtuoso guitar player Michael Angelo Batio and Guitar World Magazine, to all of the Guitar Hero/Rock Band players out there!

Oh my dear brother, I was awaiting this.

Brilliant. *Applause*. You're an excellent writer when you're passionate about the subject. Good stuff.

...

That explains it.
But, in all honesty, a simple "Rockband and GH are degrading to real musicians, such as myself" would have worked just fine. :P

Yet... I'd have to say that not all the instruments are completely fake. In fact, only the guitar is.

The drumset in Rockband trains you to use your hands and foot independently, as well as builds your chops. Some of the hard and expert songs are still literally impossible for me to play because I simply cannot move that fast.
I do play the set in real life, and I'd say it transitions nicely, not flawlessly, but nicely, to Rockband.

I also have no idea how the singing would be fake. Well... it doesn't give you the correct note to sing, but the pitch is still there.

I'd say that the guitar is the only fake instrument used in the games, as most guitars have more than one string and most songs require the musician to hold down chords, rather than individual notes.

Not to start an argument, but you never mentioned the other instruments. Focusing on the guitar, I agree completely.
