You are not better than everyone else. You are expected to treat your fellow members with respect. This means: 1b.No Flaming (insult) members, unless it's an obvious joke on both parts. 1c.You will not insult the family of members. 1d. You will respect a member's life decisions. (Sexual Orientation, Religion, etc) Rule 2: Proper Posting Habits 2a. Members are allowed to edit posts for a reason. Double posting is not allowed, exceptions being in topics regarding your own creations. 2b. Topics older than a month are not to be posted in without a significant contribution to it. 2c. You are expected to stay on topic. Talking about sports in a gaming topic or something is unacceptable. 2d. You are also expected to post with at least a passable grasp of the english language. We are tolerant if you have a mental disability or English isn't your primary language and cannot type as well as most, but please do try your best so that we can understand you. 2e. You will not post for the sake of getting a milestone post (1000th, 2000th, etc) and topics announcing a milestone will be deleted. The current topics in A Seafaring Turnout that have done this will be simply locked. Rule 3: Keep your filthy and illegal crap off the board 3a. No Pornographic or grotesque imagery allowed EVER. We have younger people viewing the boards (even three of the admins are under 18) and furthermore, our service frowns on this imagery and will shut us down if we use it. We take this rule seriously and breaking it is an instant ban, no exceptions. 3b. If you have an art piece that has artistic nudity, then it is acceptable provided you put a warning down, but that is basically the only exception. 3c. This applies to stories, too. No "Lemon" scenes as the fanfic community puts it. Perverted jokes are one thing but we don't need graphic details, even if it's complete satire, we don't want to hear\read it. 3d. Also, please do not post links to downloads for ROMs, Warez, basically links to pirate stuff. That's something else that could potentially get us shut down. Talking about it is a bit of a grey area but it's best you avoid it as best you can. Rule 4: The Staff deserves proper respect 4a. The staff makes sure the board remains in order, so they should be given extra respect to keep the boards you use from being ruined. However, we are not asking for senseless asskissing. We don't want that. 4b. Also, do note that the administrators (Sean, Root, Jeff, Rem) are all in School and cannot be at the boards their whole lives, but between the four of us you should be able to find one of us to contact without stress. Rule 5: Speaking of school, this isn't one. There are no marking periods and you don't get a clean slate every two to three months. 5a. The Staff will keep a log of all rule infringements and they will not be taken off that record short of all of our computers and the board breaking. So don't think you can break rules, wait two months, and break rules again. We will acknowledge improvement, but we won't accept someone "laying low for a while" Rule 6: We don't want outside matters carried here 6a. We don't care if you had a massive flamewar with a member or some sort of problem with them in Real Life\AIM\MSN\IRC\etc. They're not on Four Against Nature and what they do elsewhere on the internet or in RL is not our problem. Simple as that. 6b. The only exception to this rule is if the offending party has done something illegal, at which point actions will be taken provided sufficient proof has been given. Rule 7: You're expected to be a Mature Member 7a. Swearing is allowed here. This however comes with the responsibility that you're mature about it. Nobody wants to read a post that has a swear every two words. Also, if you're going to giggle uncontrollably or go "MY WORD!" Everytime someone says "fuck", please grow up. Rule 8: Profile Editing Restrictions (Avatars, Signatures, etc) 8a. Custom Member Profiles may only be 40 Characters. We don't need gigantic Member Profile Customs. 8b. Signature length is 600 characters. That's all you should need 8c. Maximum size for Avatars is 25 KB 8d. Maximum size of Avatars is 150x150 pixels. That should be enough for you. Animations are not allowed in Signatures. They're annoying. 8e. Rule 3 still applies to Avatar and Signature content, also. Rule 9:You are not to abuse your features. 9a. You can edit posts. This does not mean you make a post and then edit it when it's replied to in order to make someone look like an arse. Administrators can see when you edit posts. 9b. You are not to use the BB-Code to make things painful to read (This means eye-bleeding-causing combination of colors or making it impossibly small or huge to read) 9c. You can also use the [img] tags, which means you aren't to make intentionally huge worthless image posts that are made for the intent of lagging computers. Rule 10: No Backseat Modding 10a. We're Staff. You're not. we're more than capable of dealing with any crap that may wind up on the forum. If someone makes a rule-breaking post, don't go "You know you're breaking a rule and you're gonna get in trouble, right?". If anything, hit the report button and let us deal with it. Rule 11: Use your best Judgement 11a. If you try to find a loophole to a rule, we'll just make an amendment, simple as that. Use your common sense, and don't even bother loopholing your way through, it won't make us happy with you. Rule 12: Have Fun! Remember, these rules are in place for a specific reason, and that is to make the experience at Four Against Nature as enjoyable as possible, so follow the rules, and have a great time at! The Warning System: Warn Level is there to show how much trouble you've been in, essentially. On a first offense you're given a verbal warning. From then on you recieve a 25% Warn rating. The higher your warn is, the bigger penalties will come to you. 25% Warn- Administrative Approval. Your posts have to be approved by staff. (3 Days) 50% Warn- Suspension. You are unable to see or view the boards. (3 days) 75% Warn- Suspension. (1 week) AND Administrative Approval (2 Weeks) 100% Warn- Banned from the forums. Warns will go down 10% each month WITHOUT GETTING A PENALTY. I cannot stress that enough. If you get penalized, your warn level isn't going down. It's as simple as that. We will also keep a log of who's been warned so warn ratings might go up higher than 25% based on your previous record. Edited by Sean, Jul 7 2008, 04:07 PM.
