As the title says, we make an RPG system and setting.

The main things we need to determine is the genre, the engine, and the nitty gritty details, which will come later.

So, who's game?

I'm all on-board for this!

I've always wanted to try something like this...

FAN: THE RPG?! I can only hope it's as vicious as the board game...

Sean, Sean, Sean. One does not simply walk into Mordor "win" RPGs. that kind of thinking is the reason why Tomb of Horrors is abhorred by DnD players and why games like Baldur's Gate and its "You walk into a bar, three men with levels higher than yours 1HK your guy with magic missiles/ arrows" game design no longer happen.

The point of RPGs is to have fun. Although I disagree with its fundamental philosophy, Call of Cthulhu is such a game where the fun is seeing how far your guy goes. You know you can never win ultimately, but you need to fight the good fight, lest all of humanity be doomed all the sooner. So, yeah. The point isd to have fun, not to win. But that's my two cents.

Genre: High Fantasy/Magitech

The idea? Take standard high fantasy with biological mecha and strange eldritch artifacts. The careers involve tanking while piloting mecha, being a mobile fighter, prioritiizing their biological aspects and improving them and even possibly using them to summon minions to your aid. In addition, you could have Master Asia-style super fighters who can defeat the mecha with their own hands (or weapons, I guess.) In addition, vou could have iddferent species, such as a tanky, tough race, humans, a bird-like social race, and so on for the racial options.

Mecha creation I kinda see like in Adeptus Evangelion with random rolls to determine your mecha's spirit, mutations, conbstruction, and possibly any other benefits one can think of.

Oh, and it should be D10 dice pool based.

Best. Reference. Ever.

I like Kayen's idea, but I think a percentile system may be easier to engineer than a d10. Just my two cents.

Indeed. These are all good ideas. Does anyone have anything else?

Thanks! I'm working on the clans/careers now, so bear with me a little while longer, okay?
