Transcendent Blade; It's Jeff's turn to take a whack at it!

1500 years ago, in a place no longer found on any map, there was a continent. Upon the continent were seven kingdoms, who existed side-by-side with unchanging boundaries for over 200 years. Cut off from the outside world, the citizenry figured they'd be safe and their way of life, secure forever.

They were wrong.

Invaders from a far-off land came seeking to sack the kingdoms and take their wealth. The kings of each land, bound by a firm, multi-generational oath, fought together and the invaders were soundly defeated. With that, the kings believed that the outsiders would lose interest. Again, they were mistaken. Because their settlers were killed and/or run off, the empires of the other lands declared all-out warfare against the continent and its kingdoms. They found themselves constantly under siege, forcing their kings to prepare for the worst. The kings called forth the most skilled weaponsmiths and sorcerers from each kingdom and tasked them all the same request:

Create a weapon suitable for a King - with which he could strike down an army of outsiders.

They accepted this task and each kingdom presented to its ruler one of the seven weapons they collectively named "Transcendent Blades".

From the northern kingdom of Olidace, the Axe of Ice - Leviathan Wake
From the north-east kingdom of Chelriden, the Scythe of Wind - Vorpal Gale
From the south-east kingdom of Horridran, the Hammer of Earth - Cragbreaker
From the southern kingdom of Trenwitz, the Spear of Flame - Rendtouch
From the south-western kingdom of Peritte, the Sword of Darkness - Dark Fount
from the north-western kingdom of Berrita, the Sword of Light - Holy Avenger
And from the central kingdom of Sendrelve, the Gauntlet of Kings - Emperor's Call

These seven items turned the tides of the war overnight, rendering even the mightiest armies and navies as but toys before the kings. Within the month, word had spread of the "Invincible Isle" and it's seven unstoppable rulers.

Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. The Kings, having tasted incredible power, quickly shattered their oaths and attacked one other. It was a war the citizenry called the "Monarch's War" because there was no army even on their continent that could stop one of the Transcendent Blades. Outsiders called it the "Endless War" because long after the people had been massacred by the overwhelming power of the blades and the cities leveled, the kings were unable to outmatch the others. Alliances formed and broke within the hour, each unable to gain the upper hand.

The dust finally settled months later, with the overwhelming power of the weapons sinking the island into the blue abyss of the cold, unfeeling ocean. It's been 1500 years since that day.

The island has suddenly resurfaced. What was the cause? Are the ancient treasures of the seven kings still there? Are the Transcendent Blades sleeping on that rock, awaiting new masters? What would you do with the power that would let you rule the world? And what would you do to get it?

Sign up now as our team returns to the Island of Seven Kings and find out.

Our crew thus far:
Jeff - Graham
Root - Releah
DarkManticoreX2 - Sirius
Sean - SFX

Sign-ups are still open! The RP has begun!

Special Rules and considerations:

1) As you might see here, mine is a simpler version of Root's system. Base damage for a standard attack is ~10, granted variables between characters and weapons. Damage will be listed as: ( +/- HP #; Person who caused it) to keep things as simple as possible. Any questions, comments or suggestions are welcome!

2) A recommendation for the duration of this RP is that by going into detail about your attacks will usually net you more damage and, as a result, more profit in the long run. A similar system is becoming more prominent in some of the RPs on FAN, so I encourage the same. Instead of "Use X on Y" go into detail, have fun, take advantage of the environment and use items nearby for wonky combos. If you want to know what's around, ask - it won't cost a turn.

3) For reference - after every fight, we will heal, but all buffs and debuffs alike will be lost.

4) Getting your HP reduced to 0 does -NOT- mean your character is dead. 0 HP is considered a Knock Out (KO Status) and you may be revived at %50 health by a team mate, assuming they forfeit all other actions for two (2) consecutive turns. This is all about teamwork and due to the nature of our condition, getting replacements will be nigh-on-impossible. As a corollary: you WILL be killed if you do something painfully stupid ("I block the giant's Massive Axe of Maiming and Death with my FACE!").

5) These rules are subject to change without notice as the RP progresses, in order to maintain game balance.

6) Have fun!

"The Transcendent Blades... Swords of Kings," the older lady sighed softly, "The treasures of an entire continent, guarded by unearthly monsters..." She appears to be in her 50's, streams of her once-brown hair long since gone silvery-white and her blue eyes having changed to a similar hue. Dressed in a heavy coat, dress pants, knee-boots, and a top that's not entirely unlike a corset, all with bright, eccentric blues, greens and yellows, a casual observer would have a hard time deciding to take her seriously or not. However, those who suffered at the end of her whip know exactly how seriously to take her. You already know her name from the invitation she sent you: Graham Pendleton.

She brushes her hair behind her ear before glancing up at you and smiling in a strangely grandmotherly way, "I'm glad you came," she stands to greet you as you board the plane, "I hope you understand about the terms of our agreement. Equal share of the findings, you don't go shouting about the finds to anyone outside of our little group... m'kay? This is very special, this continent, and I wouldn't bring ANYONE if I didn't have to. Your... considerable reputation is what brought you to my attention. Also, this mission WILL be sort of dangerous... so let's try and be friends, shall we?" You extend your hand but she bypasses it to give you the same sort of hug that your aunt would at the family reunion. If nothing else, you tell yourself, she's friendly and we'll all be filthy rich soon enough.

She takes you in to a small secluded room on the airplane as you feel the vehicle take taxi down the runway. "Here, I made copies of this for you all... this will explain about some of the known treasures. The wealth of not one, not even two but SEVEN kingdoms has finally come to the surface - after being preserved by salt and pressure for over a millennium! The greatest of these are the Transcendent Blades - the ultimate weapons of the Seven Kings that led to the ruin of the continent we'll be landing on. Not to say that there won't be other treasures - there most certainly will be - but these take top priority for... well, obvious reasons. Large mounts of treasure will be split evenly. Small things are on a finders-keepers basis, so be enthusiastic, will you? I know I will be!"

She takes a note of your worried face, "You want to know why I had to bring a weapon and why I recruited you all, huh? Okay, I won't lie. The treasure is guarded by creatures I've never seen before. Whether they're byproducts of something gone horribly wrong on that rock 1500 years ago or if they once lived on the ocean floor, I can't say for certain. We'll be the first people to set foot on that island, though, since it sank. Think of it as a cost/benefit analysis. We're all competent fighters, a few fish won't be any trouble to us and we'll all walk away with enough money to let our great-great-great-great-great grandkids retire at birth and then some!" she giggles, as she lifts up a champagne class, "And here's to you. I may be the founder of this dig, but let us partners profit well and return healthy, wealthy and wiser from our experiences together,"

SFX nods, slightly nervous...He's not much of a trusting person, but he's going along with this, for once. He's not particularly eager about treasure, but more about the adventure.

"Are there any specific tools we'll be needing for this little excursion?" he mutters, looking about the airplane, and occasionally taking glances as the paper given to him by Graham.

Relaeh listens to the woman quietly, nodding every once in a while as he reads the paper he was handed. He toys with his distaff a bit in his hand as he listens intently.

"I am simply curious," he says shortly, "To find a part of history, or perhaps a secret of civilization. Such is the quality of someone like me"

He chuckles at this last though.

"I'm here for the adventure" Sirius states calmly. "Treasure is always a nice bonus, but I look forward to the coming battles you mentioned."

Looking around he notices Relaeh and smiles, "We've met before on quite a different adventure Relaeh. I look forward to working with you again."

Noticing SFX, Sirius extends his hand to the hedgehog. "My name is Sirius. you must have quite a reputation to accompany us. Welcome, I look forward to working with you."

Becky meanwhile only hisses at the others.

"Shall we begin?" Sirius asks Graham.

"Fantastic! I wasn't aware some of you were already friends!" Graham smiles, "I hope we'll all become friends before the end of our journey," She beamed. She then turned to address SFX, "The only tools we'll need, I already have for us. Lots and lots of sacks," she laughed. She nodded as if replying to herself before saying, "It'll be dangerous, though, which is why I asked you to come prepared for the possibility of a fight," She then turns towards a window and points outside, "We can see the island from here. It'll be a doozy of walk... land rovers can't cross the terrain and there's several building to see too. We'll be here a while, but I made an effort to prepare as best as possible with food and other supplies... unfortunately, there's no place to land. We'll be parachuting down... gotta get our thrills somehow, right?"

She stands and presents a rack of parachutes in the overhead compartment. She briefly details their use and shows them a crude map she drew up, "During my initial assessment of the island, I made this. So, I'll be navigating for our journey. I want all of us to take every precaution on our trip. If you're injured, please speak up about it, don't be shy," She then takes them to the hatch, "And please, if you get airsick easily, speak now or forever hold your lunch," she then throws the door open and leaps out first, not awaiting a reply.

Minutes later, they arrive safely on the beach. Discarding her parachute pack, Graham turns to face the others, "We've arrived. We're in the northern... ah, north-northeastern part of the island here... the ruins of Olidace are just to the west and the ruins of Chelriden are south of here. Where shall we begin our expedition?"

Becky related to Sirius that she desired to go west, to a warmer, less humid climate, which was better suited for her tastes in atmospheric condition.

"Becky says West" Sirius states, concentrating on his snake. I must say i think I agree with her.
