What's everyone's thoughts on a day to clean up, paint and add some colour to our park area?

Say like March 28th 2009? So our kids can enjoy the park area :)

I think the council should do it too, but then it will never get done they get out of everthing. if everyone gets together end got the kids to help then they might even have more respect for it has they have put their time and effort into getting it tidied up.

I think your generalisation is a little unfair. Most of the youngsters I've come across are polite young people who are always glad to lend a hand to the older generation.

Maybe your patio set is crap!

There seems to be a degree of apathy to this idea such as the lame comment from Wakey Wakey! We should have a stiff upper lip and show the council we can do a job without having to ask them.

The initial idea by WF3 is great. A little bit of effort from everyone would soon have the park area looking like a new pin.

If people had any initial reservations then we could kill 2 birds with 1 stone and link this idea in with the St George's Day Jamboree. Whilst cleaning the park area up we could be celebrating at the same time. People could bring their bbq's onto the park and lay some picnic rugs down, when the work is done we can relax with food and refreshments.

Anybody with young children could look at hiring a bouncy castle to ensure the little ones are catered for.

Let's see some views on this, it would be great to bring the community together.

I think this is great idea, maybe we could also have a best dressed Shrek competition?

My only issue would be with the bouncy castle idea, this could get damaged or punctured with some needles recently found at the far end of the park.

All in all though I think this could really put the focus on the estate and make it a great family annual event

I welcome the comments from ghengis khan as I too think it could be a great family event.

Could we have some more views on this please. We could organise a committee to sort out all the plans and issue individuals with different tasks to ensure no stone is left unturned.

There should be no worries regarding potential damage to the bouncy castle. This type of apparatus is made of high grade rubber and has a constant pressure of air flowing through it. A large rip caused by a shard of glass could prove problematic but a well established company hiring out this sort of equipment will provide self adhesive patches should accidents happen, after all it is in their best interests to look after their asset.

Let's have some more input on this subject especially from parents with young children.
