Well, they're in the playoffs now, effing Gilardino or whoever scored (ILY but...ugh!) so that sucks. Dammit! Oh well. Still, I'll be cheering them through the playoffs! Gotta get them through!

Well... we got in the qualifiers, which is a success! Although because of the way it's done, it's not too hopeful. So so gutted after last weekend though, 90 seconds away from a famous win. Of course, supporting Birmingham, Ireland & England I'm pretty much used to this shite feeling of disappointment! COME ON YE BHOYS IN GREEN!!! Lovin the Sheasy sig btw!

Draw for the play offs Republic of Ireland vs France Portugal vs Bosnia-Hercegovina Russia vs Slovenia Greece vs Ukraine From what i've seen of France they haven't looked great so Ireland might be able to get a result against them. Shame the second game isn't in Ireland tho, think they would have had a really good chance then. For England at the moment i'm just hoping we don't lose on a penalty shoot out again, i don't think i can take another one of them! If Johnson's defending can rapidly improve over the season, Jt and Rio can get some games together in the build up and wayne Rooney doesn't get injured i think we have a good chance next year, better than in recent years. Although i have put a £25 bet on Ivory Coast at 33/1 to win the World Cup, they are the sort of team i think we would struggle against. |

They had to get France of all teams, didn't they? (Ireland, I mean). I don't know, while France hasn't been on top form, I'd be scared to death of having to face them. I really hope Ireland can make something of it and get to the World Cup and all, but I don't know how much confidence I have in that. :( I mean, not being Debbie Downer, I'm not. Anything can happen. It's just frightening. Eurrggghgh. Come on Ireland! I think England have a better chance as well, Rooney alone, from his performances with United, shows a lot of potential and promise for the team. I don't know, let's just hope they get farther than the previous years. |

How bent is that system? Changing it a few weeks before so that the bigger teams get easier draws. Still, like you said Malty, recently France haven't been the team that they were, so it's not impossible. Heck, we were seconds away from beating the World champions last week... we must believe! |
