Basic concept of an Enthll Nighttime. A full moon. The constant noise of nocturnal animals. All seemed normal, until it all fell silent. A loud crash sounded in the middle of the night. Few trees were lit with a dark orange fire, more appearing to be ablaze when closer to the source of the clash. A small meteor rested in the middle of a forced clearing in the trees. Creatures surrounded as the fires died down. A shrill shriek from one of the creatures sounded, others following the feared lead, breaking the silence. Morning came. Soldiers of a nearby militia base packed a transport vehicle for a short expedition. Few seemed excited, others not. A team of six loaded themselves into the vehicle, taking off for the meteor crash site. It didn’t seem like long before the transport had stopped, and the first of the six had jumped out. “Alright Alpha, we’re on foot from here,” he commanded before treading forwards. The other five followed. The crash site was an interesting sight for the six to see. Dozens of lizard-like creatures fled, yet one seem to back itself to the meteor, hissing at the squad. “No way,” one had whispered. The reptile didn’t flee. One other of the six adjusted, aiming a sort of cannon at the creature. A net flew out from the cannon with a loud ‘pop’ noise. Hissing and snarling came from the reptile as it wrestled with the net it was now entangled in. The radio on the leader seemed to whine before a voice emitted from it, “Alpha, status report.” “Just captured an enthll, Ma’am,” responded the keeper of the radio. A moment of pause lead to excitement from the female voice in the little box. “Bring it in. Alive” “Roger.” The reptile gave in to fighting halfway through the trip of being brought to the small base. It was released into a bulletproof glass enclosure, the quickly sealed behind it. It became restless, trying to claw up the walls, walking against the walls in a square, and breathing heavily. A uniformed female stood outside the enclosure, her arms folded. She watched the restless enthll. Alpha squad’s sergeant Jones stood to her left. “It’s fully grown, yet it acts as a newborn. But those horns… Those horns are beautiful. Jones, we’re the first to capture one of these. I bet you those horns would be worth quite a bit.” “But Ma’a—“ “No buts. The worth of those horns could build us better protection. Send someone in to tranquilize it and to collect those spikes,” A moment of pause. “Jones.” “….Yes Ma’am.” Edited by Jonnie, Nov 4 2010, 06:05 PM.

[[[I sorta wanna add some bits from the SCP thing. I'll explain things as I go along. It fits well.]]] Ezekiel Jonathon Monroe--known colloquially and simply as "Zeke"--was one of the elites of the security personnel. He was one of a select few to have defeated seventy-six in one-on-one combat. He knew it was a fluke; seventy-six had seen something in him and chose to let him live. That was why he refused to be part of Omega-7, and that was why seventy-six hadn't said a word about his refusal. Zeke stood a good 6'3", well-built with well-trimmed hair that barely reached his brow. The singular scar from seventy-six ran across his cheek, a knife having sliced through a good deal of his face. It had been thrown from over two hundred feet away. His blue eyes led him through the corridors of the base, to the room where he had been called to. Having faced a Keter-class and lived, this Euclid SCP--an Enthll, SCP-1036--would be nothing for him, they assumed. In honesty, it scared him. Enthlls were savage beasts when they reached fruition. He sighed and steadied himself. Had he been shaking? Did the others notice? The SCP made it clear what happens to people who show signs of instability. . . Zeke himself knew of at least three dozen of his colleagues who had been demoted to "class-D personnel"--cannon fodder. Zeke wanted to hold on his life, for what it was worth, but he knew that would never get out of the SCP if he wanted to. He, like all people in his place, would eventually die at the hand of some Euclid or Keter object. He didn't doubt that seventy-six might come back and kill him out of spite. He'd done it before, killswitch or no. Zeke tried to push "Abel" out of his head, instead focusing on the task at hand. What was that again? Oh right. Attempt to tranquilize a space-lizard. He entered the room, dressed in his full guard uniformed: full body armor, sidearm, knife (carbon steel), communication devices. Give him an M-16 and he was ready for war. Instead he was handed a simple, bolt-action rifle and a single dart with enough tranquilizer to put a bull elephant into a coma. He loaded it in and slid the bolt in place, then nodded to the scientist. "You know, they really don't pay us enough for this shit," he mumbled to himself. The air lock opened and he stepped inside. It closed, and with a hiss the next door opened into the enclosure. "Hey there, lil bitch. . ." Zeke said. He still hadn't entered the enclosure. The rifle stayed shouldered and ready to fire; his finger twitched on the trigger. "Ready for some fun today?" he taunted, sure that the Enthll couldn't understand him. Stupid beasts, he thought, at least stupid by human standards. Edited by Fission, Nov 4 2010, 05:27 PM.

Being trapped in a thick glass enclosure was no fun experience for the creature. It seemed blind as it tried to claw through the glass unsuccessfully, and continued to amble along the sides. Noise from the door startled the captured enthll. It dropped down to all fours, and pushed itself against the wall it was trying to climb. Its head swayed a bit. Gill-like openings on either side of the creature’s neck flared, ever-so-slightly contracting with each breath. The gills returned to a normal posture, and a pupiless gaze fixed on the human male who had entered. Cloth, skin, sweat, metal, and something else. The scents seemed strange to the creature, but it was sure better than the scent of nothing. These new scents allowed the enthll to see. The creature resumed stationary before responding to the humans incomprehensible words with a low growl. The growl changed little in tone, but was noticeable before turning into a short loud hiss. |

Zeke snickered nervously. "Oh come on, ya lil bitch. Don't growl at me like that," he said, edging his way out of the airlock. He felt its eyes fall on him. They saw nothing; they were just there. He took careful aim at the flickering gills, stifling his breathing as he came in "sight" of the beast. If he wasn't careful, he would be mauled to death in seconds. He stared into its blank expression, looking into the solid yellow of its eyes. He squeezed the trigger. Pressurized air shot the dart forward and out of the barrel, aiming straight for the scent-gills. Just as he had been trained, and just as he had been shown. |

The dart whirred for the enthll, and the enthll knew. It dashed slightly to the right, then straight forwards after the human, the dart stuck in its left hip. The creature moved a bit slower than normal enthll, but quicker than any human could. It raised slightly to its hind legs, gripping Zeke’s upper arms with opposite claws, oddly being careful not to dig in through the armor and then flesh. The quick movements had the male pushed roughly against the side of the enclosure his back was facing. Another growl came from the enthll, shifting in tones again. It almost seemed to converse with these growls. A second of pause. The creature slumped off the left a bit. A constant low growl emitted from its throat as it push its head against the human’s forehead. The growl stopped and the enthll tensed up, some body parts slightly spasming. A few seconds later and Zeke was let go. The creature backed away, before dozily wandering to the other side of the pen. It laid down lazily, a blind gaze fixed on the male. The female who had ordered the tranquilization stood outside of the enclosure, having watched what just happened in sheer amazement. |
