Remember, guys, if you want to test out a concept and see if it would work as a full-sized campaign, you can use Miscellanea. :3

Hmm, i think i have another idea. We could create a RPG that takes place during the Black Mesa Incident, which basically takes place during the events of the Half Life 1 games. it could be a interesting one. maybe it could start a hour or two before Gordon Freeman takes his tram ride?

I do have this original setting idea that I've been trying to write as a novel and hoping to make into a video game, but I keep... not. I'm a little hesitant to share it, as I don't want people stealing it, even subconsciously, and I'm really not comfortable with people playing my characters, but I keep restarting and can barely get past the starting gate unless I skip around the admittedly undefined time-line.

Anyway, the story takes place on Mars, but it has long since been terraformed and rechristened "Ares" (I suppose it should actually be spelled "Aries," but this is how I've been spelling it for years). The terraformation was achieved using nanotechnology known as "Virobots" produced by massive machines called "Terra Engines," each of which is named after a god, and controlled by a satellite called Pantheon. During the terraformation process, the colony ships accidentally crash-land on the chaotic, rapidly-changing landscape. Despite orders from Earth (so the legend goes) to ignore (summarily killing) the survivors, and rather than stopping the process completely, Pantheon integrates the humans into the process. As a result, humans native to Ares have the ability to bond with wild creatures, which in turn can transform into equipment. I've been calling these creatures "MultiPets," but my brother says it sounds too much like "NeoPets" so I've started calling them "Totems."

But that's just the back-story. The novel/game itself is about girl and her Wearwolf (he becomes armor, hence the name) who live in a rural town (modeled after a Native American village in Northern California I once took a field trip to in elementary school) who seek to become Chimera Knights. They, and a couple friends, team up with a veteran Chimera Knight and have to go around to different Terra Engines (Dionysus, Quinlong, Ra, Thor, and ultimately Pantheon itself) to liberate them from the clutches of the Terrasites. Terrasites are mysterious parasitic lifeforms that build huge nests and take over the bodies of people and animals. There's also an evil organization called the Lamarckian Initiative that wants to wipe out humanity for the sake of the universe.

X3 Oh, Ave. That is one of the most hilarious things I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

Anyway, Nega, if you really want to get a Half Life RPG going right away, start a thread in Miscellanea. People might join, people might, but it is a way to get started and to gauge general interest. I personally haven't played Half Life at all, save for a bit of game time in Half Life 2 (like half an hour or so), so I am not that interested.

I would love to see a crack high school game set in the nineteen eighties/early nineties, complete with old school video game elements and pop music.
