Fist you blow the huge hole then try to patch it up with medicare. ...........................The House Republican budget, entitled "A Brighter American Future," would remake Medicare by giving seniors the option of enrolling in private plans that compete with traditional Medicare, a system of competition designed to keep costs down but dismissed by critics as an effort to privatize the program. Along with other changes, the budget proposes to squeeze $537 billion out of Medicare over the next decade. The budget would transform Medicaid, the federal-state health-care program for the poor, by limiting per-capita payments or allowing states to turn it into a block-grant program - the same approach House Republicans took in their legislation that passed last year to repeal the Affordable Care Act (the repeal effort died in the Senate). Changes to Medicaid and other health programs would account for $1.5 trillion in savings. Social Security comes in for more modest cuts of $4 billion over the decade, which the budget projects could be reached by eliminating concurrent receipt of unemployment benefits and Social Security disability insurance........................... https://www.greensboro.com/news/government/house-gop-plan-would-cut-medicare-social-security-to-balance/article_e0bb5113-b06c-595a-bb31-8784a79a533a.html |

Sounds good to me. "Lawmakers of both parties agree that so-called mandatory spending that is not subject to Congress's annual appropriations process is becoming unsustainable." What is your solution to the problem which is recognized by both parties? |

One more step down the slippery slope. Private Health insurance is always far more expensive, with worse results. Always has been, always will be. Free enterprise works well whenever the customer has the freedom to choose. If they don't, it's a disaster. And when it comes to health, there is no choice. Nobody chooses to have cancer, or a heart attack, or an accident. And the cost of treatment cannot be predicted ahead of time. Everywhere in the world, the higher the percentage of Private insurance the greater the cost. Check this graph, keeping in mind that the two countries with the highest percentage of private insurance are the US and Switzerland: The solution? Invest in research into cheaper ways of treating patients. And bargain with health suppliers as a country - especially drug companies! They're taking the US for a ride right now... Another self evident fact the GOP ignores to the detriment of all. |

There is a simple answer. Put corporate and individual rates back the where they were with Reagan. Rescind this shi**y tax cut. Bring military spending down from the stratosphere. Fund new programs. Stop the BS about tax cuts ":paying for themselves. Institute universal health care. That would be a start. Your (chuckle) solution |

That is nothing but more tax and spend. That hasn't worked for the last 50 years or so. What new do you have? |
