Right now the only government subsidies on American made autos is limited to environmental issues (paying tax rebates for EVs).
The Federal U.S. Government subsidized the big three $80.7 billion between January 2009 and December 2013.

Free trade policy would had been to let Chrysler and GM to go bankrupt.

Well, for a start, you and your country are doing the whining about tariffs, not us.

And we cannot start because no other country is willing to eliminate their subsidies - or in the case of some I could name, even admit how much they subsidize.

Surely even you can understand that it takes both - or all - sides to make it work..

You CAN count to two, can't you?

Can you two Canadians tell us what that stands for?

Government subsidies from previous decades have enabled businesses to establish plants and procedures that give them an unfair advantage over competitors who have not received those subsidies.

NAFTA

It attempts to establish fair, free and equal trade between North American partners.

So, if NAFTA was being followed as intended, when any partner drops subsidies that unfairly price a product, the other two should, to be fair, adjust/remove their tariffs on that product equally.

Are you against truly Free Trade, Berton? Your President is.

When is Canada going to drop as much on it's tariffs and so called subsidies as the US did when NAFTA started?
