It seems the left does not want the US to be able to play on a level playing field.

Right, but Germany's auto makers want to sell cars.... just like the U.S. auto makers. No tariffs on auto imports by both countries levels the selling/buying fields for both nations. EU has to make up their minds.''

Eliminating tariffs should stop the whining from all parties; unless even Stephen is too painful for some.
As long as all sides also agree to eliminate subsidies, side deals and tax breaks, I'm all for it.

Strange, you have argued for Canada to be able to keep their tariffs in the past.

BS. I have always said the same thing - We Keep our tariffs in place until all other subsides, etc. are gone.

As an example, our tariffs on milk stay in place until the US removes it subsidies. The instant the US removes those subsidies, Canada should take off the tariffs.

Fair Trade is Fair Trade - fair is not one side selling its product at artificially low prices while B*tching that the other side is compensating.

Only when subsidies are also addressed. Let's not forget steel & aluminum.

Others in the world seem to be infinitely smarter than our resident interlopers from Canada.
Too bad you were not one of them!
You are right, Sea. I am not a low-life interloper. I was taught better by my parents.

Jim, based on your posts here, it's hard to believe they taught you any manners at all.

Right now the only government subsidies on American made autos is limited to environmental issues (paying tax rebates for EVs). No problem, we'll eliminate them and remove our tariffs. Anybody want to take a guess how much Canada subsidizes their auto industry? Germany? The EU as a whole? Asian manufacturers?

You better watch what you ask for Brew.

US Cars are highly subsidized, or at least the steel and who knows what other materials in the car are.

Koch-funded Ultra Right Wing CATO Institute reports on steel subsidies

I'm not picking on the US, the same problem applies to virtually every country around the world - it's a universal problem.

I am against subsidies, and have said the same thing every single time similar topics have come up, for years and years. Stop the Government from picking winners and losers. Let's have a free market on every product - the world would be a much better place.

Any country that applies subsidies must expect that any country receiving subsidized goods will apply compensating Tariffs
