Truth! You want truth? Brew holds the record, by far, for leaving and then coming back. He announces his leaving..... to torture us I suppose, then quietly slithers back, this time unannounced, and in time, vociferously and obstreperous tip-toes around like a hippopotamus throwing insults at half the country. But he's a Canadian. That's what they do. Then, of course, sane people begin to leave the forum.... like MrsS. |

Now that you have mentioned this procedure my cardiologist will probably suggest it on the 29th when I go in. I've had stints. I currently have intense angina attacks anytime I get hot or cold. I'm being monitored for my leaking aortic valve which needs replaced. A pace maker is also being discussed. I've had three of those exploratory procedure where they send the wire around looking for more gold. I'm told they are monitoring a blockage that is too close to the intersection of major heart vessels and a stent therefore is too risky. The angina has been debilitating, I've tried an alphabet of drugs to try to tame it and so far nothing works. Some days I'm lucky and I get away with mild to moderate chest pain while other days I have several episodes that drain me of energy and put me on the couch. Nitro is my best friend. |

Pat, if they want to replace your aortic valve, ask about the TAVR procedure. No chest cutting necessary |

Thanks Jim, will do. Heart disease runs in the family and I keep dealing with the issues. Sounds like you have the same situation. |

No it isn't, I'm getting close to 80 and I'm wondering how many more parts can break down or cause me problems. |

"More than I imagined What did you imagine and what did it turn out to be? (the recovery period). I imagine you had the procedure for cardiac arrhythmia (a-fib or something similar). If so, have you noticed any improvement in your heart rate? |

Ban, my anticipations were base on talking with several heart specialists and a couple of women that had the procedure done. They all said no sweat, they put you under and go into the heart thru veins in the groin. They didn't mention that the procedure was 4 to 5 hours long while under topanal (sp) and fentenal (sp). Didn't mention the catheter up little Thumper either. I didn't expect an overnight hospital stay either. I had it done in our VA hospital and was very very happy with them. I had bouts of hallucinations for several days because of the fentenal (sp). Recovery wise, I'm just getting back to normal, after about 9 days. The procedure was for AFib. Medication never has worked for very long and I've had the paddles (cardioversion) about 12 times. Edited by Thumper, Jun 23 2018, 02:30 AM.
