Looking into a new phone; and only a phone

My wife and I were the last of our friends and relatives to get a cell phone, we became the butt end of jokes over it. I use a phone refurbisher company in New York when we need another phone. The one I have now is less than a year old and I paid 1/3 the new cost for it. It's a smart phone and a lot smarter than I am or need to be. Sometimes I go a few days without picking it up, the wife gets mad because I still have a lot of irons in the fire from business dealings and stuff that will continue to hound me after I'm dead and buried. Cell phones make it impossible to truly retire.

Yeah, this new phone was like 26 dollars, I can't complain for all it has and how much better it is than the old one they gave me 5 years ago. When I got the old phone I couldn't believe it, that they would just give me a working phone and put free minutes on it every month. Then I had people tell me I was stuck with the old one, that they would never move my free minutes to a new phone. So I took a 26 dollar gamble.

They had to shut off the old phone before activating the new one, so after a scary few minutes not knowing if I was ever going to have any working phone at all, then it showed service.

Thinking about getting another one for a spare in case something happens to this one.

You might try this.

Call *777*1# from your Smartphone to Check your Balance

This is by far the fastest and easiest way to check your airtime on a Tracfone Smartphone or BYOP device. However, it only works for some devices.

Why I gotta call a number and use up minutes when I can just push a button on my phone? I have the app downloaded now, it's on there, I can see the minutes left at the push of a button on the touchscreen. It's just that with my old phone I didn't even have to push a button, It was always displayed at the center bottom of the screen. My only complaint now, and it's so minor I'm not worried about it, is having to dial the area code for local calls. I'm hoping that fixes itself after some time. Lets see if this so called smart phone is smart enough to figure out where I am and know the area code for this location.

You are the only person I know of who worries about minutes on a phone. Unlimited plans are cheap.

My 250 minutes a month are free and that beats cheap. When I have something like 5 dollars that has to feed me for the rest of the week, it makes a difference.
