What you're talking about Noclue is a few hundred people who weren't smart enough to keep their water secure. They will have to clean their water supply, big deal for you but not the rest of the world.

Hee, hee, hee. I was right. None of Brewsters fellow America-hating buddies won't even talk to him about this world-wide disaster. I guess they are bored with him, too. doglaugh

God forbid we should ever look out for the planet and at least try to find solutions to the harmful effects leading to it's decay. Never mind who is to blame, as humans we all share in it to some degree. Much more important to ensure that wealthy oil and energy tycoons continue to make insane amounts of money because no amount of money will ever be enough for them.

Yes water can be treated but it is a very expensive process. Not a problem for the wealthy, the kind of people getting so rich at the expense of those who now have to deal with water that these wealthy people would never allow to come close to them.

This is water many have no choice but to cook with, bathe in, and when they can't afford to pay for bottled water, have to drink. Watching it come from the tap or spout cloudy and sometimes brown. Trying to ignore and use it anyway because what other choice do they really have?

The 90s was a time of oppertunity where we had alot of alternatives. Somewhere and somehow the ball was dropped and the oil and energy fat cats got their way. Their oil for profit thing was threatened by new advancements in energy. They bought the patents to these technologies under the guise of developing them and shifting to them, but instead burried them deep to protect their oil empire. One such small example is the GM EV1 electric car. Yeah, EVs has since made a small kind of a comeback, and GM, who is just as guilty as big oil has the Volt or whatever they are calling it. Too little too late, those who buy from GM a EV now, they too are only rewarding what GM had a part in.

Think of how much more advanced the electric car would be today, if the EV1s were allowed to exist and be sold to the public. How much better off we all would be if free energy had not been so suppressed in favor of the few who will never be satisfied with their insane wealth. More and more money, Earth be sacrificed

The problem with government dependency in two sentences:

"Cutler believes that if the government isn't going to provide a solution to the problem any time soon, then residents shouldn't have to pay for bottled water.

"I think in a situation like this where it's not our choice whether we go purchase the water — we really kind of have to — I don't think we should have to pay for it."

When the first ferry left they should have boarded it for the mainland and fresh water.

Since the people have always paid for their water, and now the company isn't supplying it because they had not upgraded to allow for increasing extreme weather in spite of the fact that scientists have been forecasting it for at least a decade, shouldn't that company have to cover the costs for their lack of foresight?

Where does "government dependency" come into it?

It's time to give this scenario more thought, as versions of this are going to affect every city and town in the entire world. Where are you planning on going when facilities are damaged in your area, say from wildfires, beetles, or droughts?

Will that make you a "government dependent"?
If that is the case Brew then of course the company should have to pay for it. But I wouldn't expect the taxpayer too. There is risk in where we live, people need to factor that in and be prepared to deal with the disruption in normal living conditions. There is plenty of fresh water on the mainland, they should go there until the problem subsides. This is why it is necessary to have a rainy day fund, but people would rather the government cover for them.

Since you are worried, it sounds like you are prepared to solve the problem you perceive is involved. Good luck, just leave me out of your fear based crisis. And while you are at it, do something about over population.

I can't believe we spend so much time arguing over this issue. It never goes anywhere except around in a non-ending circle.... of tornado proportions at times.... like this thread. question2

toot News alert! Nothing is ever going to come of it... the world climate change issue... by going round and round on forums such as this. People have become numb to the problem.... if there is even a problem. I mean, people are the problem... to many. The current world population of 7.3 billion is expected to reach 8.5 billion by 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050 :33: And, they're going to do what they feel they have to do to survive in this world. If that means burning fossil fuels to keep alive, or just to keep up, then they will burn fossil fuels. And, they will keep having kids. applause Kids applause applause and more kids applause applause applause applause
