Obviously, Russia's place in the world has changed, and it doesn't have anything to do with Trump. Audentes fortuna juvat - Fortune favors the daring! "Right now, fortune for Mr. (Vladimir) Putin comes, first, in the shape of Barack Obama. The Russian was bound to see the American president as the classic self-infatuated liberal, half as clever and twice as weak as he imagines himself to be. As a former KGB agent working in East Germany, Mr. Putin would have had training, and perhaps experience, in reducing these types to human rubble .... In 1838, a 28-year-old lawyer gave a speech to the Young Men's Lyceum of Springfield, Ill., on the subject of "the perpetuation of our political institutions." There were some men, said Abraham Lincoln, whose ambitions could be satisfied with a "gubernatorial or a presidential chair." But that was not true for everyone. "Think you these places would satisfy an Alexander, a Caesar, or a Napoleon?—Never!" Such men, Lincoln warned, would seek distinction at any cost, and if there was "nothing left to be done in the way of building up, he would boldly set to the task of pulling down." Mr. Putin is no Bonaparte. But it's beginning to look like he thinks of himself as one. A West that continues to pursue a policy of toothless opposition and de facto accommodation will feed his vanity, his ambitions and his illusions." A man like Putin chews on men like Barack Obama and then spits him out alive. No need to finish him off. Now, Obama's foreign policy toward Russia (and much of the world), including his latest .... real late... response of sanctions against Russia and expelling Russia's ambassadors/diplomats back to Russia, are to be handed to Trump to deal with. What we should have been as much or more concerned about, is not how Trump might deal with what is left to him, is why have we let it get so far UNADRESSED to this point in time that it has become in the first placed? We, as a nation, worry about Trump's reaction (and that's justified) but say little about what allowed it to get where it is. Perhaps that is what Obama wanted/wants by his exercise of "politics of national destruction" policies; and, it appears that what Obama has wanted has played right into the hands of Putin's ambitions...... a weakened U.S. state in comparison to the late 1980s and an extremely divided nation by which to deal with along with a reuniting/growing Russian state image in the world. No doubt, Trump has his work cut out for him.... and with a world economy almost at the verge of financial chaos (even with our DOW having gone higher). Is the surrounding himself and his administration with key people preparing Trump and the U.S. with an administration that's better equipped to deal with what's been coming? Is that what he is doing.... assembling the most world knowledgeable people possible to help with that great task. Not so important is the fact that those assembled people have much personal wealth earned in the private sector, is the more important fact that they are world knowledgeable. That's what it's going to take... if it's not too late. A knowledgeable staff... not a politically correct staff. Can the American people unite behind the new administration for nation sake? I have some doubts. Edited by Banandangees, Jan 1 2017, 09:50 PM.

When Trump starts winning the people will get behind him. They are tired of losing under Obama. |
