Yep, in 1627 The KKK was as firmly entrenched in the Democratic camp as they are now entrenched in the Republican camp. Question. Are the Republicans as proud to have gained that support and alignment as the Democrats are to have severed it?
LOL. The democrats don't openly wear their robes and masks today, but in their heart of hearts they have always been racists at heart and progressives in their zeal for socialism and control. Remember Colo, the KKK was all about fear and control.

Just a little research, Jim.
Quote:

Beginning in the 1970s, Byrd explicitly renounced his earlier views favoring racial segregation.[58][59] Byrd said that he regretted filibustering and voting against the Civil Rights Act of 1964[60] and would change it if he had the opportunity. He said joining the KKK was "the greatest mistake I ever made."

Ku Klux Klan[edit]
In the early 1940s, Byrd recruited 150 of his friends and associates to create a new chapter of the Ku Klux Klan in Sophia, West Virginia.[12][13]
According to Byrd, a Klan official told him, "You have a talent for leadership, Bob ... The country needs young men like you in the leadership of the nation." Byrd later recalled, "Suddenly lights flashed in my mind! Someone important had recognized my abilities! I was only 23 or 24 years old, and the thought of a political career had never really hit me. But strike me that night, it did."[19] Byrd became a recruiter and leader of his chapter.[13] When it came time to elect the top officer (Exalted Cyclops) in the local Klan unit, Byrd won unanimously.[13]
In December 1944, Byrd wrote to segregationist Mississippi Senator Theodore G. Bilbo:
I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.
— Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944[13][20]
In 1946, Byrd wrote a letter to a Grand Wizard stating, "The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation."[21] However, when running for the United States House of Representatives in 1952, he announced "After about a year, I became disinterested, quit paying my dues, and dropped my membership in the organization. During the nine years that have followed, I have never been interested in the Klan." He said he had joined the Klan because he felt it offered excitement and was anti-communist.[13]

How convenient to admit his mistake. what he refers to is allowing others to know what was in his heart and his core beliefs. The same as today's democrats

It is so funny how the left keeps denying it's heritage.

Byrd denied his racism but then used the N word on the floor of Congress. He was a racist til he died probably but the Klan is almost insignificant today anyway. The left only tries to use them to discredit Trump which is another of their totally ignorant and useless tricks.

Byrd was loved by the Clintons. Maybe because of his involvement with the KKK.

Just read that 27 people were shot in Chicago yesterday, now we all know who runs that POS place and what color the shooters are so who are the racists to keep allowing this to happen? The liberals are using the situation for population control.

According to Hillary, Byrd was her mentor. And this as she lived in the South, Arkansas of the 70's with her white boy husband. The Clintons are racist but have done a decent job of disguising the facts.

Pat,

I do not deny the historical fact about the KKK and the Democrats in 1924. Why do you attempt to deny the facts about the KKK and the Republican party al and the KKK almost 100 years later?

On, that's right. Anyone or any organization that to you is "anti-socialist," np matter how racist, is perfectly acceptable to you and other right wing reactionaries.
