Protecting one's freedom and safety is a common denominator to those who understand the dangers in the nation and world outside our borders. It's not a matter of sexual identity or cultural difference, but rather one of common sense and intelligence.

BBC: Even Liberals Are Buying Guns Under Trump

by AWR HAWKINS21 Dec 2016249

On December 20, the BBC pointed out that the “traditional” image of the American gun buyer is shifting under Donald Trump; even liberals are making gun purchases.
In fact, the “Liberal Gun Club,” which is “an actual club” with nine chapter and members in all 50 states,” says it saw a “huge” increase in interest once Trump was elected, as well as a subsequent surge in membership.

But the BBC suggests that “left-wingers” are not buying guns for the same reasons that people on the “right wing” side of the political spectrum might. In fact, BBC suggests “left-wingers” are buying guns to protect themselves from right-wingers and to prepare for “the collapse of society.”

BBC interviewed a 28-year-old transgender individual named Clara who lives in California. Recalling growing up in the Midwest, Clara states, “The folks that had guns were seen as hicks [or] culturally different.” Because of this, Clara says, “I really didn’t expect to be thinking about purchasing a gun. It was something that my father did and I rolled my eyes at him.”

But Clara asserts, “Trump’s election has mobilized a lot of the far right and given them hope,” and this means it is time to buy a gun. “Things are already escalating and they will continue to do so and me not engaging or being prepared to defend my friends by force … isn’t going to stop people from being attacked or harassed.”

Perhaps Clara missed Donald Trump’s post-Orlando Pulse comments, wherein he referred to the victims of the gay nightclub as “great people” and argued that any among them with concealed carry permits should have been allowed to be armed in the club to defend themselves and others. As things stood, Orlando Pulse was a gun-free zone, and the only person armed was the Islamist who entered the building intent to kill as many as he could.

Gwendolyn Patton, spokesperson for the Pink Pistols, an LGBT gun rights group, gets it. She said:

There are people who have professed to carrying a gun now because Trump made them feel unsafe. I think their fears are groundless but I can’t make them not be afraid, so whatever they need to do to feel safer, I don’t have a problem with that as long as they do it responsibly.

Our gun club in Florida has only one known liberal shooter. If there are others they won't come out of the proverbial "closet."

As the Obama anti gun/2nd amendment policies and propaganda by his administration ends, I would suspect more will see the light Jim. Liberal stigma against guns and propaganda-mind control is an issue that will diminish over time. California is the one state that seems to be close to outlawing citizen gun ownership. Which will make it ripe for terrorist activity and more thug based gang activity.

I thing the rush to buy guns will drop significantly since there will be no talk of any restrictions. There will be no need to rush.

Not the reason I would use but whatever works for you. I'm in favor of gun ownership and carry. Goes to freedom and property rights. I have my own theory that many who say they would use their gun in a given situation will freeze up when and if it comes right down to the wire. In such a case their own gun becomes a huge liability. I'm NV (non violent) so I can say right off, I would rather be killed than kill anyone.

Far as Trump goes, he strikes me as someone who might like guns, but he doesn't strike me as someone who would endorse or respect rights and freedom (property rights). His stop and frisk stance should have the pro gun people very worried. I think he would pick and choose and be selective on who gets to have a gun and use that as leverage to control said people. One example of this is anyone who filed a complaint after being a victim of stop and frisk would lose their permission to own a gun.

Right, I can't wait for a reason to shoot some left winger. eek At least not unless they start a civil war over their inability to accept their loss of the presidential election and "incit" a national crisis that results in a left vs right civil war. They are capable of doing just that. Of course, again, they would lose.

The left lacks the cajones to ever have a war with the right. If they are buying more guns I expect gun deaths by ignorance to go sky high.
