Aetna to exit healthcare exchanges in 11 states

HARTFORD, Conn., Aug. 16 (UPI) — Healthcare insurer Aetna Inc. announced it will pull out of the Affordable Care Act individual public exchanges in 11 states after millions of dollars in losses.

In a statement Monday, Aetna said it will remain in Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska and Virginia, but will stop offering policies in 11 other states, beginning in 2017.

The decision followed “a second-quarter pretax loss of $200 million and total pretax losses of more than $430 million since January 2014 in our individual products,” the statement by Aetna Chairman and CEO Mark T. Bertolini said.

Aetna had 838,000 customers at the end of June, of the 11 million covered under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
UnitedHealth Group will also exit most exchanges in 2017 after losing about $1 billion in 2015 and 2016, and Humana Inc. announced it will leave nearly 1,200 counties in eight states in 2017.

So Obamacare will not allow me to keep my doctor, will not drop my cost, and now will not have any insurers left. What a waste of good taxpayers money.

I wouldn't worry about it. When the Dems win all 3 levels of government control plus control the court, they will implement single payer anyway.

Good luck with that. The people have kept the house away from the Dems for a good reason.

Yes, Trump may turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to the US...

His obliteration should drag down the Grand Obstructionist Party to nothing more than nuisance status, in the Senate at least.

I understand you dislike the US but why you want us to be destroyed by racist progressives is beyond me.

Well, I guess that makes us even, as I have no idea why you would use the term "racist", as every time you do, it reminds all the sane people which party it is that indulges in Voter Suppression and advocates keeping whole religions out of your country.

I think it's hilarious that Aetna claims it's losing money while at the same time trying to buy Humana...

I think the word "Scam" should be echoing quietly in the corners...

Or is this all a conspiracy to move the US to Single Payer?? :hystery: :hystery: :hystery:

I use it to catch up with the number of times you have used it against whom ever you disagree with.

If you don't like it then you should stop accusing other people of being racist and quit supporting the most racist party in the US.
