per 100,000 population

1. Nunavut 71.0 - (Canada's regional rate of 71.0 in Nunavut would place Nunavut second highest in the world if it were a country)
2. Northwest Territories 18.7
3. Yukon 15.3
4. Quebec 15.2
5. Alberta 13.1
6. Manitoba 12.0
7. New Brunswick 11.95
8. Saskatchewan 11.5

Canada 10.9

9.British Columbia 9.7
10. Nova Scotia 9.3
11. Prince Edward Island 8.9
12. Newfoundland and Labrador 8.5
13. Ontario 7.9

Addendum: Link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_in_Canada#By_region

The population of Nunavut is 85% "minority," Inuit people. Shouldn't Canada be finding a way to help these people. I mean, a suicide rate of 71 per 100K population when Canada's over all suicide rate is 10.9 should be one of Canada's major concerns.... or, maybe it's not a concern at all; I mean, it's not like they are really, really Canadians..... white Canadians. They are poor people of color, aborigines..... no English or French blood.

Is this thread intended to somehow justify suicide by gun in the US by showing that Canada has a problem with suicides?

True, there has been a very serious problem with the high rate of suicide in the Northern Territories and some more southern indian reserves to a lesser extent.
The problem has been ingnored by some governments over the last 10 years.
SUICIE CRISIS

The new government is trying to come up with solutions...HERE
On this subject, Canada has done a very poor job.

We definitely have a problem - in my younger days, I worked with many in inner city Winnipeg, and the successes were few...

The life the natives want to lead and the needs of modern industry are just flat out incompatible. When was there, we found a few companies willing to be flexible, but not many. Some companies simply refused to adjust, but many just plain couldn't. And the problem is made worse in the North, where there are far fewer jobs / choices available

The US has done a much better job of integrating the natives into their society, but when I talked to a few of the friends I had made, they were much less impressed than I was, claiming that their brothers south of the border had lost their "true identity".

I still think the American way is better, but then I'm just another Whitey.

Now he'll be even more pissed off because, instead of getting defensive, we admitted we have a problem and need to do more to fix it.

I could point out that the "yes we have a problem, lets fix it" attitude is one that the Republicans should be adopting, but that would just piss him off more, so I won't.

Problem?
The Republicans see no problems.
Anyone who does and has the nerve
to point a problem out is promptly
called an "America hater"!

At least Jackd has the honesty and gonads to admit to a problem in Canada regarding suicide rate, .... and without whining.

For Stoned and Colo, for every thread I bring up about some issue in Canada Brew and Sea bring up 10, but neither Stoned nor Colo will make note of it. I understand why.

Thank you Jackd, I happen to very much respect you fairness and honesty.

Yes, the U.S. has the same suicide disparity by state with the farthest north state, Alaska, having the highest rate.

Their overall suicide rate is less than ours. Too bad your honesty did not extend do far as to admit that. What made you pick out that particular ethnic group

The high rate right? Looks bad.right?

Honesty? Right!
