Tell us Brewster, you seem to think you know everything, what would the Dem bills accomplish if they had been passed?

 Why are you posting the same thing twice Colo.
Is that a new form of crawdaddying?
The first was incomplete and I wanted to avoid your "Neutralizing" me. I guess I failed in that attempt.

I am beginning to get the impression that the progressives do not want to discuss the subject.

Four inadequate bills. A lot of hoopla. Does it matter that the democratic bills were better than the GOPs? Nah, They all sucked. That is the depths to which we have sunk.

Believe it or not, I DO have a bit of a life beyond these forums;

As for your question - If you're going to apply the usual Republican mantra of "If it doesn't do everything perfectly, it isn't worth doing at all", then you'll just dump all over them as well. But at least they would do SOMETHING, which the Rep bills wouldn't.

Stoned said, "They all sucked" and he wasn't wrong. But at least the Dem bills were a start.

But let's at least look at them for a moment:

The first Democratic bill would have required federal background checks for all gun purchases in the U.S., including at gun shows and over the internet. I'm sure someone would have found a way around it sooner or later, but at least it wouldn't be QUITE so easy, and perhaps a little easier to track down who's buying the stuff. A similar bill had been rejected by the Senate in 2013 after the Sandy Hook shooting.

The second bill would have allowed the Justice Department to ban suspected terrorists from purchasing guns, including those who’d been the subject of a terror investigation during the previous five years. A law like this would have prevented the Orlando shooter from buying a gun, because he’d been on the FBI’s terror watch list from 2013-2014, but was subsequently removed.

The main objection to this bill is that the list is often wrong, but the solution to that is obvious - fix the list. Regardless of its link to Gun Laws, it should be done anyway.

There you go. Hardly perfect, but at least a reasonable start.

As for your other claim - I seem to think I know everything? Hardly. But I can read an entire sentence from beginning to end without losing the sense of it all, and I stay away from sites which have been proven to lie consistently. (Most of them are Right Wing sites - you can thank the Kochs and their friends for that...)

As an extra check on the "balance" of the opinions of sites I DO use, I often compare what a US site says vs other sites from around the world - sites that don't have a dog in the fight.

You should try it some time - it would be a whole new world for you to explore!

Is this the situation where the Republicans voted to aid the terrorists in their efforts to obtain guns? A vote to support ISIS?

So tell us how the first example you sited would have stopped any of the shootings.

On the second one tell us how a person gets off one of the government lists if they are on there by mistake.

I will answer this I will answer this. Yesterday I listened to a civil rights lawyer tell everyone listening that if they felt they do not belong on either list, they can go to court where the burden of proof is on the government to prove the person belonged on the list. I also heard a Republican Congressman say the same thing about due process under the law being protected under the proposal.

So their second amendment rights were taken away without due process and they have to go to the expense of hiring a lawyer and going to court to get their right back. Is that what you are saying?
