Pat,

What’s different with Phoenix temperatures now compared to past years? I have family there.

Ban, Neutral…

We’re back to what’s normal in Central Florida for June after a cool winter and a lot of rain, temps in the 90’s with high humidity (add 10 degrees to the feel like temp because of the humidity so they say) and the time of year to push my crews to stay hydrated working outside. Being overcome by the heat/sun is normal happening to me all most every year not following my own rules (eat lite, drink a lot of water and Gatorade, where a tail hat under your hardhat and stay covered with sun screen and long sleeve shirts). We’ve been to Vegas twice during the summer once in July and the time other in August and remember a Hover Dam boat tour at the bottom of the dam reading a temp of 120 degrees. It was hot like a dry oven but didn’t sweat with my wife saying she was having great hair days. Flip a coin to what’s more dangerous, it has more to do with what your acclimated to… I’m pretty sure a person living in the AC not used to laboring would drop quickly whether it’s here or there.

We landed at China lake NAS back in the 60s and our F 4 popped two main gear tires after we parked the jet. Tarmac temp was thru the roof.

I can remember back in the 60s when we had a dust storm after a snow. Turned the snow red. Now that was dry conditions.

I don't know, Nevada had the third warmest May on record. Air conditioning is our friend.

Humidity here is about 9% right now. In August when monsoons come, extreme heat and humidity. Overall, throughout the year you can't beat our climate. A few days of 105 and you become used to it.

By the way, swamp (evaporative) coolers don't work in August. We have heat pumps.
