McConnell, Ryan Use Balance-of-Powers Argument to Reassure Voters

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan appear to be on opposite sides of the Donald Trump question, with the senator backing the party’s presumptive nominee for president and Mr. Ryan still holding out.

But in one aspect they are very much on the same page. When asked about Mr. Trump, his effect on the party, or his prospects this November, each responds by talking about the importance of the legislative branch. Congress, they say, will assert itself again after eight years of an administration they see as having severely skewed the balance of powers.......

They say, "We will keep the next president in check!"

I take that with a bit of skepticism! I mean, the GOP (McConnell et. al.) had the House and Senate for the last four years and they exercised no control of Obama... no "checks and balances" from the legislative branch. They weren't included in the formation of "Obamacare." They weren't included in the "Iran Deal." They are having no noticeable effect on Hillary's e-mailgate or her Benghazigate, she's still lying and will get away with it. They had no effect on Learner and the IRS scandal. During Learner's hearing, she gave a quick statement and then took the 5th on everything else..... pretty much told the "executive branch" committee to go "f" themselves, then retired with full pay, benefits and retirement. They did nothing that could be called a checks and balances. So now they are saying to Trump, IF you win the election, WE will be the president.

Not a pair among them. That's the GOP "establishment" that cons (and others) are sick of. The Libs have theirs.

Perhaps there is nothing there except a political scam? After all four (count em 4) republican led investigations have found nothing.

Why the hell was that?

BENGHAZI!!!

I guess some people just can't see (or refuse to see) what is painfully obvious to most.

I don't know how anyone can seriously say nothing has been found, especially after that IG report.

That's very true, Ban.

But you'd think that even the most gullible Right Winger must know by now that if all those highly partisan committees could find nothing substantial to stick on Hillary, it's gotta be painfully obvious by now that there's nothing TO stick to her.

Most of us, including most Americans, know perfectly well that all this Hillary crap is politically motivated, and whatever the truth may be, the Republicans are making mountains out of molehills.

Notice how Brewster carefully did not mention the IG Report which was so damming of her actions? Must be a progressive thing.
