Recently we talked about computer modeling of climate. I saw a program on AHC about the lost Maya civilization. This guy came up the theory that climate changed in Europe and caused a severe prolonged drought in central America. A guy named Dr Tony Broccoli of NOAA appeared to have a good model of how changes in one part of the world can affect weather elsewhere in the world. The evidence is pretty overwhelming that a prolonged drought killed the million plus Mayans

The climate changes naturally. I have read this theory before, people breed during good times and are unable or willing to adjust how many mouths are at the trough.

They say the same thing about the Anasazi which lived in the four corners region.

Yes, climate modeling works.

It might be able to when it is not deliberately biased in favor of one result. In this case the model proved itself without constantly adjusting the data to fit the hypothesis.

And you have proof that data was adjusted to fit the model?

Well no, of course you don't.

That has been shown before. That you in your little mind can not understand it is not my fault.

It's only been shown in your mind Berton - Neut must've lent you some of his amazing memory...

( Is it a drug he takes? )

The drug or whatever it is must be a Right Wing thing.

I am certainly not the brightest climatologist, but the TV program was pretty convincing. I bought it.

Yup Thump, I think it's probably one I saw earlier.

As I recall, around 1000 AD the climate warmed and dried out over 50 years or so, (not as warm as it is right now, but definitely above average) then cooled over another 50 years or so - about 150 years all told.

A very short period in geological time but long for humans. Many civilizations/nations went through serious changes.

There was an even bigger spike around 400AD, which contributed to the destruction of the Roman Empire.(Contributed, not caused.)

Here it is in graphic form...
