No, I'm just sick of Berton attributing things to people like me who believe differently than they do and then make comments that have no relation to reality.

I view the work as a push back against collectivism and championing of the free individual.
There is a bit more to it than that.

Yes, but it boils down to me to be those two.

I'm disappointed that so many people born in America and who have broken in, contribute so so little. The liberals label a capitalist as greedy and uncaring, I would say the same of these takers.

With Atlas Shrugged, the main protagonist had killed the proverbial goose with the golden egg. The capitalists revolted and stopped the gravy train.

Yeah, but Rand never went into what happens after you stop the gravy train and the rich and powerful are in complete control.

Ever wonder why we have all these regulations?

Objectivism, another failed philosophy that merely elevates greed to altruism.

Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism is really nothing more than a philosophy of personal selfishness. That is what Atlas Shrugged boils down to, personal selfishness.

Oddly enough, the part of the story that stuck out to me the most when I first read her books was how her heroine always ends up sleeping with the richest guy around. It rather diluted the message, I thought.

I presume it was wishful thinking on her part.

Lol. Looks like Canadian women are all gold diggers. Too bad for them. Not much gold in Canada.

Back to Rand. She labeled her philosophy "objectivism". It being just the idea that oneself comes first. Some have called it a bit of Libertarianism but I am not sure it was that comprehensive. It did not seem to go much further than self interest.

Anybody?
