Really? What war crimes by the US are you talking about?
Here's a partial list. Here
Good, I see that what Stoned was calling a war crime was not on the list. I really pity you as you have not the slightest degree of comprehension in the written language. A complete inability put things in contextor to actually read what is written.
What I placed on these pages was not intended as a list of war crimes. Itr was just a list of the thngs we, as a people have come to accept in our politcal and business lives in "others'. It was list of our everday attitudes.
The use of the bomb in WWll, in my opinion, is not a question of whether or not it was a war crime, although it may open up that question in it's future use, It killed a great many people although it was no more lethal then the fiire bombings in both Japan and Europe, It just killed them all at once although the radiation effect lingered.
As usual any discussion of this type ends up in a "did too, did not gotcha session", creating more ignorance than truth and light.
There were reasons for the use of the bomb. I think the reasons, if not wonderful, were at least reasonable,
I have heard no reasoned discussion of that here. That might have been an interesting talk as it is not black and white and both sides can make a reasoned argument. We don't do that here.

Yep, we have the capability of starting a nuclear holocaust that would end most all life on the earth and the US Right proposes a "first strike." Aren't we proud of that?
So you are claiming that everyone on the right wants to strike first with nuclear weapons? Can you prove that or is that another of your progressive propaganda claims?
I apologize. I should not have indicated all right wingers. I should have said that on ltlhis forum only right wingers have proposed using "tactical nuclear weapons" in a first strike setting.
So you are claiming that everyone on the right on this board wants to strike first with nuclear weapons? Can you prove that or is that another of your progressive propaganda claims?
No, I am claiming no such thing and I am sure you know better because I believe you can read.
Then what are you saying about the right wingers on this board?

Two planes into the twin towers killed 2000 people at one time. Probably being killed by a flame thrower or burned up by napalm doesn't get more inhumane.
Ally? So is Germany, why doesn't Benjamin Netanyahu go to Germany and express his condolences; or, General Patton, if he were still alive?
I've already explained my druthers. Apparently, you believe that President Truman made a grave mistake. Probably the families of those fighting in the Pacific, working their way toward Japan, island by island would have a different opinion that you.
I don't think I would want the US to be compared to Israel, but what did Israel do to Germany that it should grant condolences for? The inhumanity of weapons isn't the issue, imo, it's a reason to close old grievances. I don't know why you claim that I think Truman made a mistake. Have you read this thread? I've said what my opinion is. Try accepting that.
Has the leaders of Japan gone to Perl Harbor and expressed condolences? Have you read what is pictured in that memorial Obama went to? How it depicts the US for starting the war?
I don't think they have, but there is a lot of history that needs to be considered when attributing blame for the war. The US had put harsh sanctions on Japan as a result of the Japanese aggression in the far east. Japan was at war with China and a few other Asian nations and the US closing of trade deals with Japan, along with an oil embargo and a scrap metal embargo meant that Japan was desperate for those things in order to continue the wars. The Japanese view was that the only way to cripple the US and keep us from entering the war was to destroy our naval fleet in the Pacific. While I offer no excuses for the horrendous behavior of the Japanese against all of its enemies, one has to consider their point of view. As for an apology, there seems to be some differing opinions about that. I read that Hirohito offered an apology to General McArthur and he refused to grant a meeting for that to happen. I hope that no one will think I'm excusing Japan, just offering some insight into what they were thinking at the time. As for Obama's condolences, I see nothing wrong with saying we are sorry for the civilians killed in the atomic bombing of Japan.
As usual you give excuses for the people who started the war and were responsible for Perl Harbor, the Bataan Death Watch, The Rape of Nanking, and many more atrocities. Explain how your excuse for them required them to do any of those things. Explain why you jump at putting the blame on the US for those things. Please try to get me to believe you do not hate your country and every thing it stand for.

The implication in Colo's comment is that no left wingers have advocated for a first strike with nukes. Some right wingers have.
Can you or him prove that?
