The problem you face Brew is that outside those alarmed like you, the majority aren't.

Here in America, this topic is driven by the left and viewed as an attempt to destroy the fossil fuel industry. And, we are now on the cusp of energy self sufficiency.

The economy, jobs, how to pay the bills dwarf any environment concerns. I know that is not what you want but that is reality. Ignoring reality is a waste of time in my opinion.
I understand most of that, Pat.

The part I don't understand is why people who are out of work, particularly in the Soon-to-be-Defunct Fossil Fuel industry, are not looking for new, good paying jobs that cannot be outsourced, whether or not it's good for the climate.

And why, when they're so concerned about the amount of money the government spends, are they willing to support the money grubbing Fossil Fuel industry that sops up Billion$ every year?

And then why make it worse by pushing for deregulation of the old, Business as Usual operations that will destroy the country, and in the long run, force the government to regulate everything even more, just to survive?

Sitting around crying in their beer and cheering for know nothings like Trump who promises to bring back coal and kill regulations gets them nowhere, and actually perpetuates the country's economic woes.

I absolutely agree with your basic premise. Ignoring reality is a waste of time. It's also a waste of money, and destroys the long-term viability of your entire country.

Canada's learning that the hard way right now, as we deal with the aftermath of Harper's refusal to accept reality, and his assumption that we could run our whole country on one product.
It takes time to overcome regional tradition. Sons follow fathers into the vocation. When the Judge Bolt decision destroyed the coastal fisheries of Washington, the entire coast fell from one of good paying blue collar jobs and robust communities, into a depression. The schools were not equipped to set up vocational training, colleges the same. Frankly, the region never recovered. And that was near 50 years ago.

To get the West Virginia miners out of the hills and retrain them would be tedious. It's like the getto blacks, probably untrainable. Just another class of people for perpetual welfare.

Brewster likes to talk about the so called subsidies the fossil fuel industry receives but he fails to mention the huge amount of taxes the oil industry pays to the governments, both federal and state. How do the greenies intend to replace that money to the federal and state governments?

In the U.S. 64% are.

Americans are taking global warming more seriously than at any time in the past eight years, according to several measures in Gallup's annual environment poll. Most emblematic is the rise in their stated concern about the issue. Sixty-four percent of U.S. adults say they are worried a "great deal" or "fair amount" about global warming, up from 55% at this time last year and the highest reading since 2008.
