I will ask a direct question. Have any of the anti-wind farm folks on this forum attended or plan to attend a public meeting to comment on this proposal?

Tjos ,au jave beem [psted befpre. but upon a more careful reading of the OP, there is no claim about the nuim, ber of Bals and Golden e3agles kille3d by wind farms. Rather the number is for total "raptors." Eagles are onlyone of many types of raptors. It appears that someone is attempting to use the information for propaganda which the gullible will accept.

Additionally, please realize two things. Eagles are usually found in the US, tend to live in mountain areas rather than on the plains. Wind farms tend to be on the plains.

Here is a n honest list of "raptors."

Good point, Colo.

Here in Alberta, I've only seen Eagles up around Banff and Lake Louise, not out on the plains, and nowhere near any windmills.

The only raptors I've seen in the Chinook Belt (open, windy prairie) are smallish, rodent hunting Hawks, which tend to stay near their prey, close to the ground.

I think they're probably safe from the windmills until Prairie Dogs learn how to climb up the windmill shafts.

Ignore the facts and come up with stupid BS guys, eagles are being killed along with other birds. To deny a windmill would not kill birds is dumb.

The research I have done there appears there was only 67 known cases of eagles banging into windmills.

I hate to burst your bubble but we have the beginnings of bald eagle re-population in OK, home of the nation's third largest number of wind generators. Do you now understand my concern? I would really like for bald eagles to be re-established and wind generators are putting that in jeopardy.

Then there is the hypocrisy shown in the OP with a oil company being fined for killing a few ducks while greenies want wind generators to get off scot free. Will all you greenies be willing to give all industries the same benefit?

If you and I kill a bald eagle or disturb its nest, the consequences can be severe. Under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, the felony killing of a bald eagle is punished by a fine of $250,000 and prison time. The authorities are taking the killing seriously. Well, sort of. As it turns out, not everyone is equal under the do-not-kill-bald-eagles law. If you happen to be a favored industry like say, a wind farm, you could get a get-out-of-jail-free card after killing up to five bald eagles if you request a permit and the feds grants it. The Associated Press reports: A California wind farm will become the first in the U.S. to avoid prosecution if eagles are injured or die when they run into the giant turning blades, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said Thursday.
