Try to understand what the American Bird Conservancy numbers are and then you might be able to comment with some amount of common sense.

Oh, here are the numbers you demand in order to for YOU to have a adult discussion: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/wsb.260/abstract

Here is the contradictory quote from your OP.

Quote:

“We don’t really know how many birds are being killed now by wind turbines because the wind industry doesn’t have to report the data,” says Michael Hutchins of the American Bird Conservancy.

It is entirely likely that changes have been made to limit the number of bird strikes since the earlier data was collected.

Likely? Since they are wanting a 30 year exemption what would they change?

I believe that they are requesting the current five year permit be extended to 30 years. The response to that request should be decided based on real data that has been gathered in a scientific manner.

But the permits are going to be extended to 30 years without any more data than they have now. That was the crux of the OP. Apparently you, in your zeal to try to say I am wrong, didn't read it.

You are :busted:

AGAIN!!!

You are wrong.

From your OP:
Quote:

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the agency charged with protecting bald and golden eagles, is once again trying to make it easier for the wind industry to kill those birds.

Two weeks ago the agency opened public comment on “proposed improvements” to its eagle conservation program. It wants to extend the length of permits for accidental eagle kills from the current five years to 30 years.

Key words "opened public comment on 'proposed improvements' ... It wants to extend the length of permits"

Didn't read it?

I don't understand what you're trying to argue Ima.

They are looking into extending the permit length among other changes.

Nothing has been decided at this time.

The current regulations have been in effect since 2009 and this review has been in process since 2012. There have been extensive public reviews and the final public review is scheduled for July of this year. After that a committee will review all submissions and produce a draft "Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement" which will be distributed to all interested parties. Then some time later a final "Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement" will be distributed. At least 30 days after that a decision will be reached whether or not to make any changes and if so what changes to make.

It was decided until a judge told them they could not do it that way. But that is nothing but another of your distractions. The fact is that many eagles are being killed by green energy while other industries face fines and prison for their personnel if they kill eagles.

They WANT to extend the length.
That's what you say.

Berton says "the permits are going to be extended to 30 years without any more data than they have now."

You are both wrong. One of the possibilities they are looking at is to extend the permits and they have volumes of new data on which to consider their best options.

It is in the OP, if you would try reading it instead of jumping at taking things out of context to try to show I am wrong about something.
