It seems that Trump is slipping in the polls and that the slippage is accellerating. What a disaster! I was hoping that in the race between Cruz and the Donald that the Donald would prevail thereby eliminating a candidate that I feel is little better than a snake. I know it is unlikely but perhaps Cruz can generate more traction in the general election. Whereas with the Donald we would have had a certified buffoon that would quickly become the laughing stock of the world Cruz would be a truly evil man that his party might well disgrace themselve by supporting. After that we would become the laughingstock of the world. But if the Donald is really serious, something that anyone over the age of 12 will have trouble agreeing with, perhaps he will run as a third party and destroy the GOP completely. Sounds like something worth a try, does it not? But...............Suppose the Donald does get the nomination. Will the party support him? Right now they are actively trying to sink him. Would the party decide that support would be just to much to ask in what looks like a lost cause? Especially since they would gain nothing by that support. If the party does not support Trump and Cruz is nominated look for the legions of knuckle dragging Trump supporters to boycott the election. Now there is a fun scenario to contemplate. The party rips itself in two before the election with a faction, perhaps the largest, ready to pack its bags and leave leaving us with two parties, neither of which can muster the votes to elect a president. How long will that last? Don't know but the longer the better. No matter what happens look for some serious consequences down ballot with the only possible winners the democrats. Is this a great campaign or what? |
