I wonder what the average Joe will do? I know it will hack me off really bad. It will probably shift the Trump votes to Hillary. Yesterday was the first primary I ever voted in. What a waste of my time.
Trump has a rabid following but not even the majority of the GOP base. According to recent polls some 30% of the GOP WILL NOT vote for him if he is nominated.

If this spells low turnout in the general election it will not only get Hillary elected but will be a blood bath in the house and senate. The same thing will happen if he (or someone else) forms a third party, spit the vote 2 ways. It may be the end of the conventional GOP.

I am less sure that Cruz would not do better but I still think he is way too extreme for the general election and all things considered I prefer Trump to this jackass.

Itis going to be damn interesting. If Trump has decided to use the old ploy of campaigning to the extremists and then trying to get back to center in the general election he has gone way too far. Hell, romney went too far and Trump has him beat by a mile.

Yes I know how they work and you don't have to be condescending with me.
If it goes to a second ballot they should give it to whomever has the most delegates. You seem to be one of those that want anything except Trump.
No, they should play by the rules. It takes 1237 to get the nomination.

No, you are reading something into my correction of your not knowing how the system works which is not the truth. If you know how it works then you would know that it takes 1237 or more to get the nomination.

Let me get you on record Berton, if Trump has 1200 delegates you don't think he deserves the nomination? Yes or No.

He deserves the nomination when he gets 1237 or more votes just like every one else. I see no reason to give him a privilege no one else is getting. I think everyone should play by the rules, don't you?

Not surprised you don't want to answer.

I wasn't around to answer immediately so your snarky statement means nothing.

You are the one who doesn't understand the system if you think one has to reach 1237 to get the nomination. All they have to do is vote for the person who has the most delegates, it's that simple. Bone up on it or listen to about any pundit.
You don't like Trump so you are just as bad as the "establishment" who will destroy the GOP if they play the game you are proposing.

You are so very wrong on everything in that post.

In order to win the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, a candidate must win 1,237 delegates at the national convention (this figure is current as of March 17, 2016). Currently, there are expected to be a total of 2,472 delegates at the Republican National Convention.

To become the Republican Party nominee, the candidate must win a simple majority of 1,237 of the 2,472 total delegates at the Republican National Convention.

If you need more links I can provide them.

As to my preferences, I have said in the past that Trump is not my favorite. However, I will vote for him if he becomes the nominee. That does not mean that I think the rules should be changed so that he can be nominated with less than 1237 votes at the convention like you apparently think should happen.

I never said any differently, if he doesn't reach the number they should vote for him until he does. It's simple. This talk of giving it to someone else is stupid.

Then you need to explain this statement of yours:

"You are the one who doesn't understand the system if you think one has to reach 1237 to get the nomination."

where you seem to indicate that a person can get the nomination with less than 1237 votes from the delegates.

You know exactly to what I was referring. He can come up short and should still get the delegates if he is the clear leader. Of course he needs to get to the number.

No, I only know what you put in your post.

So why do you think he should get the required number of delegates if he falls short on the first ballot?
