Businesses and the management of businesses are by nature risk adverse, bust a few of the majors, levy huge fines and put some upper management types in the slammer for a few years, and you be amazed at how fast the undocumented lose their jobs and can't get hired. Possible cost at this point is far below expected gain, profit not patriotism rules business decisions.

It seems that our resident conservatives are out of step with their right wing news media, since there is a plethora of articles in that media that complain about employers hiring illegals. |

If we assume that no company is hiring them, we an also assume that they are not taking jobs from American citizens.

There are many problems with deporting 11-12 million people. Where we would house them after their arrest, how we would construct enough courts to give everyone a hearing (unless we are willing to also deport US citizens by mistake), how will we ID illegals, how will we transport them to their country of origin, especially if these nations refuse us permission to land our planes, how will we transport the illegals from their point of arrest to the newly built detention centers, and how will we pay for all this are just some of the issues. In addition a large % of the legal US population will actively resist these deportations. It will be similar to the "underground railroad resistance" of anti slavery citizens prior to the civil war. It would be much less expensive and easier to make it a crime to hire illegals and since corporations are now legally people arrest the CEO's of companies that hire them. Without jobs the draw of the USA would greatly diminish. |

It would not be the obvious answer down here, in my opinion. Here most of the Mexicans and others from South America tend to live in groups. It would be wiser to raid their little communities at night and get the whole family than to try to get them at their places of work. |

Another thing, we don't even have to get them all. Just most of them. |
