http://www.seattlepi.com/entertainment/slideshow/Actress-Elke-Sommer-turns-75-Then-and-now-119711.php

This is not a political, campaign poll, or gotcha thread but rather the reflection of 75 years. Not a week goes by it seems that a celebrity of my past or acquaintance becomes seriously ill with a geriatric condition or passes. I'm a few months older than Elke but she looks much younger. Plastic surgeons and a focus on one's body image separate those of her like with those of mine. Yet we share a shared history. Climbing under a school desk for nuclear bomb drills (as if we could have prevented our near instant destruction). The World Series was a time of awe for those of us lugging our mitts to class. The school would give us the inning by inning scores over the PA and maybe a tidbit of drama. The NFL was on mud clogged fields where the uniforms were so dirty you couldn't tell which team was which. Go Bears, go Packers, go Giants, go Colts, go browns. The Seahawks were not even on the radar. Nor Dallas Cowboys. We were patriotic and Christmas was a time of joy and family, not shopping malls. ----- And Elke grew into a beauty of exceptional mystique. Anyway, share a memory and let me know what you think of her photo.

Elke was never an A list actress, but she was so damned cute! Loved her in the Pink Panther follow up - A Shot in the Dark.

You, as a free, beautiful, independent human being with inalienable rights, own yourself. As a result, you can do what you want with your own body and own the product of your labor. The implication is that it is morally wrong to INITIATE force against someone else OR their property, because to do so is to violate their rights. Therefor, all human interactions should be free of force, fraud, and coercion and people should be free to exercise their rights, limited only by respect for the rights of others. When you learned "don't hit" and "don't steal," it wasn't "unless you work for the government." When you learned thou shalt not kill, it wasn't "unless your dear leader gives you a gun and a uniform and a one way ticket to the other side of the world." Government is force, an opinion with a gun, and force is a poor substitute for persuasion.

Governments frighten us into thinking we need them, but with knowledge, philosophy, and technology, we are empowering ourselves and each other to have the courage to move past the paradigm of statism and restrain government to only moral uses of force, at least until we replace it with the cooperative, free market solutions, that will soon render it obsolete.
