Scientifically speaking, just why were those pyramids built anyway?

Do the scientists really know?

Who built them? How many workers did it take? Were they hired hands, slaves, contractors?

How long did it take?

Did they go to all that trouble just to bury a few pharaohs? And grain. Where are you going to grow much grain in Egypt? Or wasn't Egypt always mostly desert?

What do the real scientists say? Any real scientists here on this forum? If so, you could really help to put this thing to rest. Maybe some have some real scientific evidence to share.

All I can find is hundreds of differing opinions to most of my questions.

I do get the feeling though that liberals here already have the answers, based on what I've been reading in this thread.

C'mon, Ban, apply a little logic.

The Pyramids are huge piles of rock with tiny little staircases down into the depths, where there's a small cavern usually just big enough for a dozen people.

Can you imagine what it would be like to haul even one bushel of wheat up all those stairs? Which is probably just as well, as the cavern would be able to hold only 50 bushels max - just about enough to feed the people working in the pyramid, none for the general populace.

How much wheat did Egypt grow? Keeping in mind, that "Desert" is subject to massive floods every spring, and the Egyptians had canals to store and spread water all summer.

They grew so much wheat that they were able to feed the entire Roman Empire.

I do believe that Egypt's grain to Rome was a supplement, not a crop that fed the Roman Empire. You tend to exaggerate. But I didn't imply anywhere in my questions that suggest I thought the pyramids were for storing grain.

But I guess you're saying that back in the period of the pyramids that there were no periods of drought? No periods of famine like occurs at different places around the world at different times, that Egyptians (during the period of pyramids, give of take a few years) could feed all of Egypt and the entire Roman Empire to boot? There was no concern for grain storage??

Addemdum: If you look back, I did have several questions....looking for scientific answers (evidence) to those questions.

You are confused as usual. I don't start threads to talk about the haters.
