Stoned, Actually there are plenty of examples of police receiving more punishment than citizens. Take drunk driving. I don't know what you did as a career but had you been arrested for drunk driving your employer would not have known about it nor would he have punished you. A police officer will face the same criminal penalty and also be disciplined by his dept. The first DUI would result in at least a 2 week suspension without pay. A second will be cause for termination. A officer, who commits theft, will lose his job, no matter what the value of the property taken, and receive the max. criminal sentence. It is illegal for a police department to contact and advise your employer that you were arrested unless you are a school teacher arrested for sex crimes. Police officers do not have this right on non employer notification. |

What state do you live in? The police do not release articles about those who they abuse in holding cells. If you abuse someone you wouldn't want it to be public knowledge. However jail booking records are open to the public and newspapers send a reporter, often daily, to check them. Being arrested is a PIA but they are easy to avoid, don't commit a crime. |

I am not really concerned about the drunk driving. My concern is the killing and the beating along with all the false testimony they give. |

You need to provide examples of the police illegally killing and beating suspects and not being prosecuted. Your opinion that an incident was illegal doesn't count because our legal system is based on evidence. Opinions are only admissible if offered by a court recognized expert. However there are plenty of examples of the police being prosecuted for illegal shootings and beatings. Do you believe that the police should never resort to violence? T |

It is all on video. The advent of the cell phone video has blown the cops out of the water. You can deny all you want. These Videos are all over the web and all through the media. The cops take months and months to "investigate" what is shown for all to see on a five minute video in hope that it will all go away. Most of the time it does. Sorry, I have a collection of these that have changed my mind completely to the point where I will have trouble believing anything a cop says. "Good" cops that cover for bad cops are just as bad. |

What was the result of the investigation? Just because you personally believe that the officer should have done something different that doesn't mean that his decision was illegal. Unlike the courts or public opinion an officer doesn't have months to decide what to do when he is faced with an immediate threat. (The reasonable person doctrine will be used to judge his belief that he, or the public, were in danger) |
