Yep, I would certainly fight hard for my kids to attend a school where this goes on. sic.
You seem to be assuming that all public schools are like that, Pat. Nothing could be further from the truth. Do you always condemn an entire organization on the actions of a few? The biggest problem is the parents, IMHO. There is a tremendous lack of parenting skills out there. Parents expect the schools to do the parents' job. Would you, Pat, think that eliminating the public schools would be a good thing? What have you done to make your local schools better? School board? Parent/Teacher groups?

I wonder if they still bring drug sniffing dogs into schools? They would always stop and alert on me and I never messed with anything. They would never find anything on me. I didn't mind the search so much as the attention I would get from other students thinking I was somehow into drugs. Of course back then I didn't know about the 4th, learned about that later in life and on my own. Or I might have brought it up.

I would just say that you have had only one poster on this thread with real experience in public schools. That is Jim Miller. I would suggest you li listen to what he says. His experience trumps the experience of those that once attended school and consider themselves authorities based on that experience. The is akin to my saying that since I have had surgery, I am qualified to evaluate surgeons. Listen to what Jim says.

Did you ever deal with this Jim?
I was never an Assistant Principal but, yes, I have wrestled with kids on the floor before. I was a lot younger then and came out on top on each occasion.
Of course you did but you have to admit those fifth graders are tough.

My God Flyway even the police dogs picked on you for no reason. How did your local department manage to find dogs that alert on non existent drugs?

Come on Ken, no games please. It's a well known fact the police train these dogs to react to certain signals from their handler to hone in on someone they want them to hone onto. Sheesh.

Well I am glad that this is a "well known fact" and that you have so much knowledge about how K-9's are trained. However apparently it is only "well known" outside of the K-9 handler circuit.

You can train your dog to attack on command using the prey drive of the animal. Narcotic and bomb detecting dogs are trained via their play drive (a completely different dog instinct). When the dog finds and alerts on drugs or explosives his handler rewards him by throwing the dogs ball or letting him play with his favorite toy.

Personally I have never seen dogs trained to alert on the handlers command as well as when they actually detect actual contraband as this would be too confusing for the animal.

I've been searched (my vehicles) many times and dogged. They sniff and go on. Never seen them find anything.
