Of course. But the naysayers always seem to want to condemn the system instead of the individual schools. Nor do they want to get involved to make things better. Eliminate the public education system and listen to the parents and naysayers squeal.
Let them squeal, it's their little bastards causing the violence and they them self not insure Johnny learns his ABC's. I would never subject a child to such a madhouse.

I would rather the "experts" on the state level (keep the feds the hell away) work with the failing schools one on one and get them back up to par.

That is the solution but the Feds keep putting restrictions on what the schools can do to enforce discipline.

Obviously the first good step would be to abolish the federal Department of Education.

Jim, most people have no clue to what school teachers have to put up with babysitting every day and it’s no different than the current assault on police. 99% are busting their butt with a true intention of trying to make a difference, at least from the ones I know here. People that whine and complain are the least likely to lift a finger trying to improve their community. That’s been my experience anyway and it’s not a left or right thing, talk is cheap on both sides when it comes to getting involved.

You are right, Don. I dealt with that for 31 years.

I was never an Assistant Principal but, yes, I have wrestled with kids on the floor before. I was a lot younger then and came out on top on each occasion.
