Down and dirty, "it means diss-respect. And connotes diss-may. And diss-honor. And diss-aster." The growing global view of our president's leadership is what's being "dissed." We can say it isn't there.... but it's there. If only it was just one thing. We can say it is, "It's just this one thing.".... but it isn't. We can say that it's just opinion... "it's only right wing propagandized opinion." But there are some leadership facts that help to propagate the dissing.. forming the perception.. the opinion. And perception does mean something in the world of diplomacy. Of course, the US left and the "Liberals Without Borders" crowd will deny that this dissing is warranted; but I doubt that will change the minds of foreign diplomatic opinion. Perception is perception, and it counts in international diplomacy.... like in the Ukraine episode. Perception, right or wrong, can be a dangerous thing. The Dissing of the President The world is treating Obama like another failed American leader. |

Well the situation with Russia does not help, although I doubt anyone else would have handled it different. |

This is the one I thought most appropriate: Diss: In March, Iranian Gen. Masoud Jazayeri offered his view of Mr. Obama's threat to use military force against Iran if negotiations fail. "The low-IQ U.S. President and his country's Secretary of State John Kerry speak of the effectiveness of 'the U.S. options on the table' on Iran while this phrase is mocked at and has become a joke among the Iranian nation, especially the children." It is a sad day when I have to agree with the enemies of this country. |

I think the outsiders see a different President than most of us here. Our great and noble cause to elect a minority has happened, but it is time to move on and elect someone a little more forceful and knowledgeable in world politics. Obama is a great orator but after that, he is leaving me cold. We need a strong man in the seat, not someone who got there because of their race or gender. I worry if Hillary is elected, we will have a continuation of the same disrespect at home and abroad. Where is Harry Truman, Ronnie and Ike when we need them? No, I don't think Romney would have been any improvement. |

Thump, Does that mean you are favoring Hilary Clinton, probably the most experienced person in the US in international politics? On edit, I read the rest of your post. You seem favor another "teflon man." That is the legacy of Ronnie, isn't it? Edited by colo_crawdad, Apr 2 2014, 12:01 AM.

"Tear down that fence Mr Gorbachev". They did. Ronnie built our military to the point Russia collapsed. As soon as Ronnie was elected, the Iran hostage saga was over. American's felt good about America during his presidency. I certainly did. |

Canadians don't look at Reagan as do Americans. Most liberal Americans (I say most) had respect for Ronald Reagan. He was the person we needed at the time...... as was Truman during his time. Seems to me that it was Canada that was in financial straits during the 80s. You are right, most Americans felt good about America during his presidency; and no foreign leader of any significance showed him any disrespect in terms of his resolve. Of course Ronny didn't have a major so called fair and balanced news source hammering at him night and day, with a bunch of senile viewers swallowing the BS whole. And, he didn't have an opposition party determined to destroy his presidency even if they had to screw the public in the process. |
