I am not convinced that "mowing down" a group of citizens is a good idea. But that's probably due to my being a liberal.

One of the problems with so called hate crimes is defining what constitutes hate. For instance, people keep saying I hate Obama. Yet I do not hate him. He would probably be a personable person in person. But I do strongly disagree with his policies and for that I have been defined as a hater. Hatred is in the eye of the beholder but not necessarily in the person who is being accused of hate.

Stand alone hate crimes such as defined by Colorado Law, hinge onmotivation much like the difference between first degree murder, second degree murder and manslaulghter. In fact the Zimmerman trial was entirely about motivation. I do not see a relationship between Beton's thoughts about Obama and/or his plilcies and the concept of hate crimes.

BTW.m I am now convinced by rational posting of others, that the incident in the video, while being a gang/mobactivity, it appears that at leas a portion of the intended victims were white. If that gang/mob were black and selectively attacking only whites, then it certainly does fit the definition of many hate crime laws.

So who decides what the "motivation" was/is? The beholder or the person doing it?

Often a jury makes that decision. Whether right or wrong, that is what happened in the Zimmerman case.

No, I mean when the person is charged.

Charging does not mean guilt. Zimmerman was charged with murder but the jury found differently. Sorry if you don't trust our justice system.

And here I thought we were talking about hate crimes in general. I guess you changed the subject of a thread again.

No, Bert. You changed the subject to who is to detremine motivation. I went with your change. Was it only a diversion?

I guess Berton did not want to answer my question to him.

And still colo_crawdad post about me rather than the specific subject. Still playing his silly childish game.
