UmmmI said I wasn't going to bring up an abortion topic for awhile--and then I read this in the paper; I almost didn't open up the article based on the headline

Aborted babies incinerated to heat UK hospitals

The remains of more than 15,000 babies were incinerated as 'clinical waste' by hospitals in Britain with some used in 'waste to energy' plants

By Sarah Knapton, Science Correspondent7:00AM GMT 24 Mar 2014

The bodies of thousands of aborted and miscarried babies were incinerated as clinical waste, with some even used to heat hospitals, an investigation has found.

Ten NHS trusts have admitted burning foetal remains alongside other rubbish while two others used the bodies in ‘waste-to-energy’ plants which generate power for heat.
Last night the Department of Health issued an instant ban on the practice which health minister Dr Dan Poulter branded ‘totally unacceptable.’

At least 15,500 foetal remains were incinerated by 27 NHS trusts over the last two years alone, Channel 4’s Dispatches discovered.
The programme, which will air tonight, found that parents who lose children in early pregnancy were often treated without compassion and were not consulted about what they wanted to happen to the remains.

I forgot to post anything about the article because the content was so sickening. It's one thing to have a culture that embraces choice and the woman's right to choose, it's quite another to burn the results as rubbish, for heat.

Even an amputated hand or toe needs treated with dignity and respect as being human tissue. This mindless, act. lacking any common sense or dignity is insulting to my humanity. Heads need to roll over this, but don't burn the heads for heat!

They used to dump the medical waste offshore.Which is worse.
I've considered having my final remains donated to science. I suppose the incinerator will get the spent parts.

It would be the woman's responsibility to bury the fetus if she so choses. What is wrong with the hospital burning unwanted fetuses? We don't need the cost of burials added to our already too expensive medical bills.

I did notice that the topic of the article was chosen with the intent to inflame the reader. Babies aren't aborted they are born. Non viable fetuses are aborted.

We know of cases where viable fetuses were aborted, killed, and disposed of.

This subject always goes nowhere. You either agree with abortion or you do not. An aborted fetus is simply tissue. I personally do not like abortion, I feel it is a lousy form of birth control. However those against it are usually against birth control, education for teenage girls, shots to prevent veneareal disease, and financial assistance to single mothers. They only care about unborn babies, once they are born they are on their own and worthless. The single mothers usually find themselves in dire financial straights while the father gets off scott free. Those holier than thou anti -abortion types then campaign against decent living minimum wages and doom the very fetus they tried to protect to a life of poverty. It makes me sick.

Therein lies the hypocrasy.

Sorry guys, I find it appalling to heat an office with aborted tissue. The issue is separate from abortion rights.

Abortion is perhaps an an expedient and right for the time. Having knowledge of three women that had abortions, they all regret it now and have difficulty coping with it as they age.
