How is it any different than taxes, a draft, auto insurance, a driver's license, building permits, and a host of other requirements. Are you saying that the ACA is different than these?

No. I'm saying that "coercion" is not freedom.

Are you planning to burn your driver's license? Coercion is a needed part of our daily life. However you may find life in Somolia more to your liking.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't congress refuse to budget money to provide for more IRS agents needed to enforce this law? I think I read that somewhere. Can you imagine the paperwork nightmare and enforcement problems in trying to go after a few million who refuse to pay the fine? I can see a never ending stream of appeals and court cases.

I elect to obtain a driver's license. I'm not coerced by being fined if I don't apply.

Like Bert wrote, (some) Libs don't seem to understand (that coercion is not) freedom.

I'm not sure how Somalia got into this thread (except by diversion); but I don't think that even in a lawless country like Somalia that they fine someone for not having signed up for health insurance. Maybe you can show me where they are.

Coercion is not much of a freedom.

I think one would find this is coercion. A good coercion I believe. Living in a society has many coercions, most are elective. But they are coercions none the less.

The US has many laws and they are all "coercion." The statement that libs don't understand that coercion is not freedom is idiotic. Only a fool thinks that we don't need laws to live in a society. Somalia is an example of a nation without laws.

Did you also belief that the draft and forcing all 18 year old males to register is proof that we aren't free? There are many things that you have to do or you are punished. You don't get to chose.

Oh! So now the libs have invented "good coercions." But, then that's how liberalism progresses to socialism, then on to communism and to complete authoritarianism.........subject to penalties by the rulers.

You must elect to buy the product I decide is good for you or you will be fined. Somehow, Campken, that appears of somewhat different logic than, "you are not to drive 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.
