The pain of the lie is going to go on for the rest of the lives of these two families. There is no doubt about it. I for one would have probably done the same as this guy, were my teen daughter to have said she didn't know who had climbed in her bed in the middle of the night, and the guy made a move on me.

From reading some posts here, I guess I'm a minority in that regard, it's family first for me and their safety is job number one.
My wife mentioned tht, from news reports she has seen, the father shot the unarmed, and, probably nude, teenager while the teen was still in bed with his daughter.
We were both concerned abut the safety of the daughter if that was the case.

Interesting that there is little or no sympathy
for the murdered kid, or for his family.

Seems that the father, over eager to use his gun
has turned into the victim here!

There is no doubt in my mind what I would have done, as I have been in the exact same situatation (the father's) on more than one occasion. My stepdaughter in her early teens was a bit of a wild child. One night I find she has a boy stashed in her room. I didn't train a gun on him and yell freeze. I just told him to get his ass out the window he came in before I called the cops. Fast forward one generation, and I'm raising a couple of teenage grandkids. While emptying the wastebaskets in granddaughters room I notice a slightly used condom. Then I notice the screen has been removed from the window. Not to hard to figure that one out. I took her aside and told her it was not appropriate to screw her boyfriend in our house. Next time he showed at the door I reminded him about what statuatory rape will get you. He lost interest in her really fast and never came around again. At one point I told her, "if I catch someone prowling in my yard late at night, I will shoot their asses". Her draw dropped in disbelief. Of course it was an idle threat, I'm not stupid.

A while back a woman was knocking on a guys door late at night, and he shot and killed her right through the screen door, recently a cop shot an old 70 year old guy who reached for his cane. And, now this incident. What do all these have in common?

Fear! Legitimate fear, or paranoia. I think it is the later. If you are paranoid, perhaps having a gun is a bad idea.

I think the media breeds most of the paranoia Tom. Spending their eyes glued to local news is a recipe for it.

Of course the media couldn't report it if it wasn't happening.

Well, give the kids a little credit and a pat on the back. At least they deposited the "slightly used condom" into the wastebasket instead of just tossing it on the floor where you would have had to pick it up (kids like to throw things (clothes, candy wrappers, tissues, misc.) on the floor with one hand and text with the other).

By the way, what is a "slightly used condom?" Does that mean that they were thinking about using it but then didn't? Or, maybe just storing it in the wastebasket to use on another day/night. Frugal, aren't they. Must be future conservatives. They'll be okay.

:hystery: I was going to say something about that but have been working hard to clean up my image around here. :teeth:

In my opinion,
it is better to have a condom
in the waste basket
than a bun in the oven!

When my daughter was 16 I was 38. I would have beat the little sob half to death and left him on the side walk. When my Granddaughter was 16 I was 69 . I'd have shot him and thrown him on the front lawn.
